FRANCESCAs TROPES
FRAN's TV TROPES
Spicy Latina: She's Colombian and is actually somewhat easy on the eyes, specially in her 30s. She's also very flirty with any girl she takes a liking to. When it comes to handling frustration or disappointment, especially concerning her unrequited crushs, her go-to strategy is seeking solace in sex.
- Making her feel like she's not in control of herself or any situation she's in is a major trigger for her, both in terms of her going berserk and experiencing deep-seated trauma.
Fatal Flaw: Arguably, Fran's biggest flaw is her chronic shortsightedness. She comes up with ideas and plans that seem brilliant at first, but she rarely takes the time to think them through. The potential problems, the ripple effects, the long-term consequences? She doesn’t bother with that. Her impulsive nature leads her to act on these half-formed ideas without a second thought. This lack of foresight has already landed her in the medbay more than once, turning what could have been minor setbacks into major problems.
Ambiguously Brown: Fran was noticeably tanner initially, a clear indication of the years she spent under the Colombian sun for the first 25 years of her life. Even now, her tan lines are still visible when she's undressed, a stark contrast to her natural skin tone, which leans more towards olive rather than being entirely white-passing. Her mixed heritage, with a Colombian mother and a German father, may have something to do with that.
Brilliant, but Lazy: Fran did fairly well in her studies and excelled during her first months in college. She could have easily earned her degree if she had put in any effort. However, when she was tempted by the allure of cocaine and the opportunity to earn easy money as a gofer for a cartel, she quickly abandoned her academic pursuits. She has also shown herself to be exceptionally adept at reading people and social cues, as well as being quick-witted and skilled at improvisation. The issue lies in her decision not to pursue a career in psychology but to instead use these talents to aid her in less savory pursuits as a drug dealer.
Affectionate Nickname: At first, she called Jesse 'Babygirl' as a lighthearted joke, but as her feelings for the Scottish redhead deepened, it turned into a more intimate and loving nickname. At first, Jesse found it annoying, but now, if Fran doesn't call her 'Babygirl,' Jesse starts to worry, thinking it might mean something’s wrong.
- She herself seems to have received the pet name 'Hon' or 'Hen' by her scottish girlfriend.
- Odds had developed a habit of calling Fran "Powder." At first, it seemed like a playful jab at her cocaine addiction. However, it was later revealed that the nickname carried a deeper, more poignant meaning.
Odds: "I want you to know your name means more to me than your reputation. I don't mind whatever brought you here, whatever past issues drove you to this place, that's the doctor's role. You're more than that to me and the other girls. Powder fit well in my mind, there's so many ways to think about it similar to how I knew nothing about you when we first met and sometimes I feel like I still don't. You're mysterious. Open yet closed off, brash but vulnerable, hardy yet soft. Make up powder is a tool for us to hide our imperfections and sometimes paint a happy face when it won't come. Blasting powder is innocuous on its own but given the right spark can explode. Powdered sugar is sweet but clings to whatever it comes into contact with. And no matter the powder it gets everywhere, touches and coats everything even when handled carefully. It just seemed very fitting. I want to know you more Powder."
The Friend Nobody Likes: Back in college, she was that friend nobody really liked, even among the classmates she partied with. She didn’t truly care for them either; she was just tagging along for the stash she could sell and the drinks, not for the friendship. Within her social circle, she was always too much of a jerk for some and too nice for others, never quite fitting in.
- It's arguable that she feel she is this for her current social circle, but in this case, she totally cares...
Amazon Chaser: Has admitted to being interested in making 51 commit adultery with her, had a lot of Foe Romance Subtext with Chelsea, and after a hefty amount of belligerent sexual tension, she becomes Jesse's second girlfriend. All of them are women who can kick her ass.
Functional Addict: She’s frequently seen casually using cocaine, but somehow, it never seems to cloud her quick thinking.
Arc Number: 19, to an absurd degree. She was born on 9/19/1991, at 7:19PM (in other words 19:19), and also she may or may not have left the cruise on 2019.
00: Your assigned Number will be Nineteen.Fran: ...You're fucking with me, right?
Nice Gal: Despite her kookiness and criminal background, Fran is a friendly and supportive woman—unless you're 11, of course.
Be Careful What You Wish For: Fran's frustration had been simmering for what felt like forever. The constant inability to form a genuine romantic connection with anyone on the Cruise left her feeling painfully love-starved, desperate for even the smallest sliver of attention or touch. She had reached a point where she openly admitted she’d accept any woman who would give her the attention she craved, no matter who she was or what she wanted. Then, Winchester came along...
Unable to Cry: Downplayed. Though she still has the physical ability to cry, it's almost never out of sadness or despair. Tears, for her, are rare, and when they come, it’s usually from a place of pure, unfiltered rage. The kind of anger that builds so deep it forces its way out in the form of hot, bitter tears. A notable poignant exception is when she takes a shore leave with Winchester, she looks back to see Jesse and her right eye sheds a sorrowful tear.
Consistent Clothing Style: When she’s off duty from her ringleader uniform, she loves wearing a red jacket similar to Michael Jackson's Beat It jacket, or the colombian football team shirt.
Retcon: Originally, Fran was meant to be this con artist who got caught up in the drug trade. She was written as a victim of the Águilas del Norte cartel, kidnapped and beaten by them—she was even supposed to be a Bunny Cruise courtesan at first. But that's been changed. Now, Fran, who's living in Norrington's Desire, isn't a victim at all. Instead, she's an associate of the cartel, hustling drugs while she was still in college. It didn't take long before they officially brought her in, and she started working her way up the ranks, slowly but surely, until she eventually took control as the ringleader of the northern division
- Originally, Fran was just supposed to have a bit of German heritage through her grandfather, but otherwise, she was written as fully Colombian. That’s been retconned so that she’s actually half German on her father’s side.
All Love is Unrequited: Despite sharing kisses and intimate moments with some coworkers she's attracted to, Fran struggles to make any relationship stick. Most of the time, things are forgotten by the next day, or the other person moves on to someone else. Thankfully, though, she managed to find her way into Jesse's heart.
Fran: "Let me see, since I've come here, I've only been beaten, looked down upon, pitied, humiliated, used, and my only solace so far has been these meaningless flirtatious moments with some of my coworkers. Even though I keep saying they are meaningless, I can't stop thinking about them, yet they seem to nonchalantly forget about them the moment I exit the scene!"
Drink-Based Characterization: She's a vodka girl.
I Just Want to be Loved: Fran's deep-seated need for the company of people who truly accept and appreciate her drives nearly every decision she makes—especially the bad ones. She eventually starts a relationship with Jesse.
Strong Family Resemblance: She looks a lot like her mother.
Gone Horribly Right: When Fran was about to start high school, her dad decided to send her to an all-girls school, thinking it would keep her away from dating boys until she was older and in college. Well, his plan worked a little too well. Spending the next six years in an all-female environment made her realize she was attracted to women. At first, she thought she might be bisexual, but by the time she graduated, she was sure—she was definitely a lesbian.
All Germans are Nazis: Fran doesn’t really share her grandfather’s beliefs (an unrepentant former Nazi general), and while she loves him for being a caring grandfather, she’s often wondered if he should’ve faced jail time for his actions. That said, she occasionally makes jokes—often at her own expense—where she playfully teases the idea of being a Nazi. Given her background as half Colombian and raised in Colombia, it’s clear she’s just kidding around.
Crippling Overspecialization: Fran's got killer aim—she's a natural when it comes to guns, handling anything from a hand cannon to a sniper rifle with ease. She knows exactly how to use whatever weapon she's got. The problem? The second she's unarmed, she completely loses her edge. Her combat skills and defense? Gone. That’s probably why it was so easy to take her down before she could even make her move on Ramón Aguilar
Morality Chain: Fran knows that, for now, it's Jesse who's holding the reins, keeping her from slipping back into her old, toxic ways. In those quiet moments, when it's just her and her thoughts, she can't help but admit how badly she wants Jesse to "fix" her. She dreams of the day when she won’t feel the need to keep holding on so tightly, the day when Jesse trusts her enough to finally let go.
But Not Too Foreign: Half-Colombian, Half-German.
Shipper On Deck: After coming to terms with her feelings for Odds, she stopped trying to make things with Jesse. When she saw them kissing in the gym, she was pleasantly surprised and happy for them, despite feeling a twinge of jealousy, since she tried the same with 04 with less satisfying results.
- Then it turned out that her twinge of jealousy wasn’t just about Four. Actually, Fran was deeply in love with Jesse, more than she was ready to admit, fearing it would mess up her relationship with Odds.
The Social Expert: Fran, with her background as a gangster, is proficient at charming people, working a crowd, and adapting on the spot. These talents are particularly pronounced during her less favorable behaviors. However, when she attempts to be kind or simply friendly, she often becomes shy and awkward, and her planning skills are not as strong.
Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangster!: Why doesn’t she regret dropping out of college for the Aguilas Blancas Cartel? Simple—she made a boatload of money and had plenty of her own stash to keep her addiction satisfied.
Tattooed Crook: She has the 'Aguilas del Norte' tattoo on her lower back.
Hates Being Touched: Fran has a strong aversion to being touched, though interestingly, this only applies when others make the first move. When she’s the one initiating physical contact, it’s perfectly fine with her. In fact, she has...
No Sense of Personal Space: Fran struggles significantly with respecting her friends' personal space. While they usually seem okay with her proximity, it sometimes becomes clear that her behavior can be a little too intrusive. A case in point was with Doctor Threes—while she was venting her frustrations, she lost track of her surroundings and ended up uncomfortably close to him. It was as if her body was instinctively asserting dominance while her mind was preoccupied with her own problems.
In Love with Love: Fran has a tendency to develop feelings for any girl who shows her even a hint of support and empathy, particularly 00, 04, 86 and of course, Odds and Jesse.
- She was initially pretty flirty and touchy with 86. However, her feelings towards 86 turn hostile when their interactions push each other's buttons too far, turning them into bitter foes. Oddly enough, Fran still finds her attractive.
- Zero was the first girl Fran fell for after boarding the cruise, but sadly, she made it crystal clear that theirs was strictly a business relationship and nothing more.
- Odds pulled Fran out of a major funk after a brutal encounter with 86 (yet again). Just as Fran leaned in for more, Odds delicately conveyed her lack of romantic interest with a tender forehead kiss and a warm embrace. Fran felt more perplexed than hurt by the gentle refusal, but upon discovering Jesse and Odds's mutual attraction, she surprisingly found herself relieved by the rejection.
- 04 turned out to be the most complex of Fran's love interests. Their interactions were seemingly perfect—snuggling close, sharing drinks, and 04 consistently calming Fran's anxieties. A memorable kiss and a passionate shower encounter followed. However, Fran began to feel 04 was avoiding her. When they finally met again, Fran found 04 literally asleep in Odds' arms... this really fucked her up.
- She and Jesse locked lips twice, though it could have escalated further had Fran not suspected Jesse's thoughts were wandering elsewhere during their hug. They mutually agreed to remain friends after believing they were using each other to cope with their feelings for 04 and 97... until the whole ordeal with Winchester made them realize they did love each other.
Lying to Protect Your Feelings: There’s a question mark over the authenticity of her promise to Jesse about mending things with Chelsea. However, it appears she made that promise more for Jesse’s well-being and her mental stability than anything else.
The Cartel: She dropped out of college to join the Águilas del Norte, a division of the Águilas Blancas cartel, starting off as a gofer and eventually becoming a drug dealer, arms trafficker and ringleader of the divsion itself. If she hadn't been so greedy and short-sighted, she could've actually had a decent life within the cartel. The boss was a surprisingly fair man, someone who valued loyalty and hard work. But her impatience and hunger for more got the best of her.
Fearless Fool: Fran claims she’s not afraid to die. Or so she says—In the 'Bad Ending,' where she meets her death, when confronted by her would-be murderer, all that tough talk disappears, and she’s reduced to a pathetic state, desperately pleading for her life. Yet, despite this deep-seated fear she keeps buried, Fran still walks headfirst into dangerous situations with reckless abandon.
Violently Protective Girlfriend: Fran won’t stand for anyone messing with her Babygirl. If someone talks down to or hurts Jesse, whether on purpose or not, they’re immediately on her radar. When she caught wind of the rumor that one of her own gang members had beaten Jesse, Fran didn’t think twice. Even though things were rocky between her and Jesse at the time, she was already planning how to make that person pay.
Lovable Rogue: Even though she’s a ruthless criminal and a vengeful cartel boss, the fact that she’s got unresolved sexual tension with most of the women in her gang and the main cop looking to arrest her definitely says something about her
Military Brat: She is the granddaughter of Major Wagner Eisenhardt, as in Schutzstaffel.
Sir Swears-a-Lot: She has a hard time not adding the word "fuck" or any variation of it when she talks. It's like her brain has a built-in swear filter that automatically inserts it into every sentence.
The Hedonist: When she was back in Colombia, she was all about pleasing herself and chasing instant gratification.
Gang Banger: She began her criminal career as a small-time drug dealer in college, hustling to make ends meet and quickly realizing she had a knack for the trade. What started as selling to classmates in dorm rooms and at parties soon escalated. Her knack for the trade didn’t go unnoticed, and soon she was moved into other areas of the operation, gaining experience and proving her worth. Before long, she was offered a position in the Aguilas Blancas Cartel, where she started making drug deals with bigger players and handling more significant transactions. Eventually, she climbed the ranks to become the ring leader of the Aguilas del Norte division. In this role, she didn’t just oversee drug deals; she was in charge of an entire network that sold, smuggled, and organized the distribution of guns across the other divisions within the Cartel.
The Corrupter: Consciously or not, she appears to have a gift for provoking certain individuals into showing their worst sides. This happened with 86, initiating a chain of events that resulted in her becoming the protégé of the sadistic 80. Similarly, The Commander, who is far from decent but had finished his malicious work and was ready to leave the Cruise for the night, was provoked by Fran's intervention.
Death Glare: Has dished them to 86, 11 and doctor Threes.
Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: This pattern defines her numerous failed attempts at romance aboard the cruise, particularly with 04. She's so sure she's unworthy of love, that Fran always expects the worst from anyone who tries to forge a deeper emotional bond with her, inevitably sabotaging the relationship and driving them to hate her.
- Her favorite film is The Mummy (1999).
- Related to the above, her celebrity crush is Rachel Weisz.
- For someone with her criminal history and penchant for cons, she is actually a huge Superman fan, to the point of packing a Superman action figure, plushie, jacket, and shirt for the cruise.
- She seems to be attracted to people's smell, mostly.
Thousand-Yard Stare: When she’s genuinely sad, there are no tears or outbursts. Her eyes become dull and void of emotion, and she appears to disconnect from herself, staying motionless like a corpse until something or someone brings her back to reality.
Arms Dealer: Back in her cartel days, besides dealing drugs, Fran’s second biggest money-maker was smuggling guns. She had a whole network set up, running smoothly, moving firearms to the Eastern, Southern, and Western divisions of the Aguilas Blancas.
Evil Can Not Comprehend Good: Or more like Evil Doesn't Want To Comprehend Good. She is unwilling to understand how people can be genuinely kind and altruistic without expecting something in return. If someone is unusually nice, constantly smiling, and exuding kindness, she can't help but think there's a hidden agenda or something they’re getting out of it. This skepticism is especially evident in her interactions with Eleven. Unlike people like Odds, Jesse and even 86, who manage to be kind and compassionate despite their own inner struggles or nasty behavior, Eleven seems to present an image of perfection with no visible flaws or personal demons. To Fran, this seemingly flawless demeanor feels inauthentic. She’s on a mission to find any hint of imperfection or deceit beneath Eleven's perfect facade, convinced that there's more to her than meets the eye.
The ''Reason You Suck'' Speech: Also mixed with You Are Better Than You Think You Are. As Odds was drinking her sorrows due to Jesse's recent coma, she stumbled upon a high, frustrated and annoyed Fran who was, due to the effects of the cocaine, not very happy about seeing, allegedly, the person who was 'taking' Jesse away from her. This time Odds had none of that and gave Fran a very necessary reality check:
''Taken? I don’t want to take her, Powder I just want to love her. Do you…do you think I’m flaunting my relationship with her? Are you still jealous? I know you two kissed but… It’s always about relationships with you isn’t it, Powder? I love you, you’re such a gremlin, jokester, high energy, funny, and well-meaning even when you mess up, so will you please get over this? Are you really so unhappy with yourself that you need to constantly look for someone to love you and still can't see the love we all already have for you? Damnit Powder… did you even think to ask Ena if she’d still want something more with you? You’re so high and mighty about not getting in my way and here you are condescending to me about a relationship you championed. Did it even cross your mind she can be with more than one person? For fuck sake we all live on a floating fuck boat!''
Bullying a Dragon: She thought she could provoke The Commander and walk away without a scratch. Although she succeeded in making herself memorable to him without a physical altercation, it was a slight triumph at best.
Equal-Opportunity Evil: Surprisingly, for someone who grew up as a cocaine-abusing gangster under the upbringing of a Nazi major, one thing Fran isn’t is a bigot. In fact, she’s in a loving relationship with a Scottish woman. That said, for all her open-mindedness, Fran does seem to have a noticeable thing for white women.
Short Range Gal, Long Range Gal: Even though she too likes firearms, Jesse is a former soldier and can trade blows with 51 and 54, making her the Short Range Gal. And while Fran hasn't been able to demonstrate it due to being on the Cruise most of the time, she has admitted and proved she's skilled with handguns and other types of firearms due to her gangbanging background as well as being trained by her grandpa, so she's the Long Range Gal.
A Threesome Is Hot: Has fantasized about having a threesome with Jesse and Odds. They're dating now so it could happen somewhere along the line...
- It happened.
Sad Clown: Even with her cheerful demeanor, Fran is deeply insecure, constantly seeking affection yet sabotaging her relationships because of her own deep-seated self-loathing.
Alternate Self: She has one in Norrington's Desire that also goes by the name Francesca Aitken (neé Eisenhardt). And is married to a police detective named Jesse.
Ms WINCHESTERs TROPES
Bitch In Sheep's Clothing: Winchester presents herself as a mildly eccentric yet seemingly grounded patron of the Cruise, exuding an air of sophistication mixed with just the right amount of quirkiness to make her appear intriguing rather than unsettling. On the surface, she seems to genuinely care for Fran, showing interest in her thoughts, her well-being, and even developing what could be mistaken for affection. While Fran sees Winchester’s actions as those of a caring patron, everyone else around her can see the truth: Winchester is methodically cultivating a dependent relationship with Fran, feeding her love-starved heart just enough to keep her coming back for more. Aiming to deepen Fran's emotional reliance on her, to the point where she begins to push away her dormmates and potential love interests without even realizing it. She wants Fran to be completely isolated, cut off from anyone who could offer her genuine care or affection. Once Fran is thoroughly alienated, when she has no one left to turn to but Winchester herself, the real game begins. Winchester takes pleasure in building Fran up only to destroy her. Her true kink lies in the complete and utter devastation of Fran’s spirit, driving her to the brink of despair and, ultimately, to suicide.
Can't Kill You, Still Need You: She can't just kill Fran herself, not only because the Cruise would probably give her trouble for it, but also because she wouldn't feel actual pleasure unless her targeted Bunny doesn't break herself and give in to despair.
Condescending Compassion: Comments like ''Attagirl'', ''good girl'' or ''poor thing'' make it clear that she doesn't really see Fran as a person.
Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Winchester is a stunning and captivating woman in her mid-to-late 30s, exuding a charm that is both timeless and effortlessly sophisticated. Her preference for tailored suits and crisp ties adds an edge to her femininity, creating a unique blend of grace and power. Despite her polished appearance, there’s a softness in her mannerisms, especially when it comes to Fran. Winchester is incredibly tactile, always finding excuses to touch Fran—whether it’s a gentle brush of the hand, a lingering caress, or pulling her close in a warm embrace. After their encounters, Winchester doesn’t just leave; instead, she stays, holding Fran in her arms, pressing gentle kisses to her forehead, and whispering sweet nothings that make it easy for Fran to forget the harsh realities of her situation. It’s all part of a calculated effort to become everything to Fran—to be the center of her world, to the point where Fran can’t imagine life without her. Winchester’s obsession is to craft a relationship so all-consuming that Fran becomes entirely dependent on her, unable to seek solace or affection from anyone else.
Fiery Redhead: Subverted. In contrast to Jesse, she's pretty calm and rarely raises her voice.
Gaslighting: Winchester's favorite part in manipulating Fran's mind is the subtle, yet devastating way she sows doubt about the people Fran cares about. She expertly plays on Fran's insecurities, twisting her perception of her friends and loved ones until they appear as distant, unreliable, or even insincere. Winchester knows exactly how to take advantage of Fran's self-serving memory—a tendency to remember things in a way that protects herself or justifies her actions. By carefully planting seeds of doubt and then gently nurturing them, Winchester manipulates Fran into believing that her friends don’t genuinely care for her, that their affection is conditional, or that their intentions are not as pure as she once thought.
Manipulative Bitch: Oh, really? No shit! Because clearly, all the hints about her being a living embodiment of manipulation, gaslighting, and mental torment weren’t obvious enough. Should I draw a diagram, or maybe just go ahead and spell it out in neon lights?
Shadow Archetype: Winchester is like the dark mirror image of Jesse. Both are fiery red-haired Scottish women with attitudes that take no crap from anyone, both ended up on the Cruise, and both have a relationship with Fran—but that’s where the similarities end. Winchester is essentially everything Jesse is not:
- While Jesse is brash, loud, and unapologetically proud, Winchester is the picture of calm, collected patience.
- Jesse served as a soldier, someone who knows the value of duty and protection. Even after her discharge, she’s constantly searching for ways to serve and protect those she cares about. On the flip side, Winchester is a woman of considerable wealth with a very murky but undeniably large bank account. She doesn’t give a damn about anyone but herself, driven by the sole desire to satisfy her twisted, destructive kink.
- When it comes to style, Jesse is the epitome of a tomboy—short hair, a rugged exterior, covered in battle scars, but underneath it all, she’s soft, affectionate, and even a bit passive with her girlfriends. Winchester, on the other hand, embodies grace, elegance, and femininity, but she’s dominant in every situation, not just in the bedroom.
- She’s taller than the average Scottish woman, towering over Jesse, who is actually a bit shorter than Fran.
- The biggest difference between them, though, is how they feel about Fran. Jesse has genuinely fallen for her but struggles to find the words to confess her love, even though they’re already kinda dating. Winchester, meanwhile, showers Fran with affection, touchiness, and sweet words, but it’s all just a means to an end. Her interest in Fran doesn’t go beyond satisfying her own perverse desires.
- And then, there’s the ultimate distinction—Jesse is just a regular human, flawed and real, while Winchester is actually a dragon god from the Norrington's Desire universe. She's exploring the multiverse and using the guise of Ms. Winchester to toy with this world, turning her very interactions with every character into nothing more than a game for her amusement.
Pragmatic Villainy: Technically, she hasn’t directly killed anyone. Sure, at least three bunnies before Fran have died because of her, but she didn’t physically harm them or hire someone else to do the dirty work. She just played the long game, pushing them to the edge until they did it themselves. Because of that, the Cruise can’t technically blacklist her. After all, what’s a little emotional devastation among patrons, right?
