The background looks a bit streaky so I'd recommend using a bigger brush and like Remy said, don't tilt the paper till the paint is dry. I saw that in the original picture, it's darker in the middle and gets lighter so for that you should start out with less water in the middle and add a bit more as your reach the edges of the paper. As for the flower, it looks pretty good the only thing I would say is to go in with a darker shade to add a bit of shading and detail.

While it does look a bit awkward, I think you're off to a good start. I like how you used the guidelines for the proportions. They looks pretty decent. For the character that's laying down, I think the biggest thing is to get the perspective of the body right. I see a mistake that a lot of people make is that they draw the face really flat. I'd recommend using a reference to get the angle of the face right.

There's not much else I can say as it looks as if everything's been covered. I can say that I love the colours and contrast of red against grayscale

@izzy-the-vampire-ghost (I ramble a little sorry but hopefully it's useful in the future and applies to several people)
Again, people have already said most of it. While people say that structure lines are really helpful, I find that sometimes they can be restrictive and actually make it harder. Personally, I start with the head and work my way down the body. What I'm trying to say is, if you're finding something difficult even with tutorials or other methods I recommend finding your own way of doing things. That wasn't too relevant but whatever

@Kinarymo

Hewwo, i got art 👀

Kinarymo that is gorgeous! I love the color scheme, it's very soft and calming even though it's a very vibrantly green. The placement of the bones works well and the composition as a very nice flow with her pose line following down though the skeleton. The only nit-picky thing I can mention is her left wrist, I was trying to copy her pose and I found that angle is almost painful to hold, but again that's a very small thing. I love all the tiny little details like the flowers in the foreground and the background plants!

i hate this and i can't do diamond patterns

If you have a sponge or something you could try making a diy stamp and hotglue like a toothpick or something to it

no…

What was the look you were going for?

@Kinarymo

I like it! I think you got their jaws exceptionally correct. The shape of the head is a lot better than what most people do when starting out with profiles.

I’d suggest maybe adding more detail and difference with their noses and eye-shape. Not every guy has the same nose shape (what seems to be hooked in the picture). Not only that but their postures could be significantly different. Especially with holding hands like that, people will lean forward into their s/o.

I personally like adding small details such as stated above, but otherwise, it looks amazing. Throw in some shading and a background and you have a nice piece of work! Great job.

oh i already finished it, it's in the show off your art thread

I don't actually have a thing right now, but does anyone have tips for how to clean up a sketch before you line it? Because my sketches are wrecks and I'm Big Dumb and I have no idea how to fix it without ruining the whole thing

If you have a kneadable Eraser, just knead it then roll it over the sketch, putting a tiny bit of pressure. That's what I do

uhh h h h h other than giving up, I usually take a pencil or piece of charcoal and make the lines stronger

@moss

Yeah, like the others said, lightly erase the sketch and go over the lines you like to make them darker.

or go digital and use a million layers like me

if you have a window you can use it as a light box, just lightly tack or tape the edges of it and another page and you can see the lines through to the second sheet of paper to trace and/or line. same goes for a tablet or any screen that has a bright setting, just be careful not to press very hard to protect the screen.

I can't sketch on digital to save my life lmao

@moss

I drew a side profile for once. How does it look?

I think it looks good! Pretty messy tbh, but I'm so bad at clean line art that I probably shouldn't talk lol.

But yeah, you can clearly see what's going on, the tears are amazing and their face expresses a lot of emotion, which is something I've seen a lot of artists struggle with. Good job!

Ngl I love the messy lineart
to me it kinda gives off the appearance of unstableness and like,,, i can see them shaking inside my head

and yea as @Fangirl616 said the emotion and face is vv gud kjlf
