How much RP before you're an RPer?

Now that I'm trying RP, joining a character chat and having one to practice in this lounge, I've found I absolutely love it! But it got me wondering now that I see there aren't many in the beginners lounge for practice, how much before you can be considered good at RP and move on to the genre lounge you want? I'm not saying I'm the best (I actually think I could work on a few things) being only in two RP threads, but I'm curious as to how to know when you'd be considered experienced and start looking at the threads in the fantasy tavern or other places that have more than one page to look through. Do you just start when you're confident in your skills? When you've joined or started a certain amount? Is there an unspoken rule on how much time one has to put into RP? Perhaps I skipped over something in the other help threads that could answer this but I'm really not sure… To those that know RP, what's your tips or opinions on this?

Honestly, whenever you feel like it. A lot of us joined before there was a beginner's lounge or just straight up ignored it. So do whatever you feel is right. Everyone in the RP section is working on improving, if you never improve then yeah, we can get a bit frustrated. But who wouldn't? Keep improving, join whatever rps you want, and make sure you follow the rules. That's all we really care about here :)

Thanks for replying! This was helpful and thank you for clearing that up. I'd hate to be the new-ish person on this platform and end up upsetting this amazing community. I'll keep improving and look at other lounges! :)

I personally am not sure, but I think it’s based off of how long you've been RPing, kinda like at a job. Like, I’ve been RPing for seven years, and someone called me experienced. I think it’s how someone has grown in a community with their style and characters as well.

I dunno if that made any sense but really, I have the same question. I hope I helped a little.

That actually cleared up my question about time. It sounds like it's a mix of time and following the rules, but until you're experience people really just care that you try to improve while following the rules. Thanks!
