A teenage girl approached them with some objects in her hands. Rhydar sat up and gave her his full attention. "Umm, excuse me, sir." She glanced at Rhydar and shifted nervously with a little bow of her head. "Your Highness. Your trial is about to begin." She bit her lip. "I have your communication devices and blindfold." She held out the objects.

"How come I don't get that treatment? I'm a prince too," he whined but gave her a grateful smile as he took the objects and studied them.

Rhydar stood up and approached the girl, leaning down so he could whisper something in her ear. Whatever he said made her flush a deep red. "Oh," she breathed, then scurried away with a dazed and dreamy look. Rhydar stuffed his hands in his pockets and stood up straight with a crooked smile as he watched her go.

"I would threaten to crack one of your kneecaps, but you kinda need those right now." He rubbed his cheek. "Fuck, they sure are takin' their time, aren't they?"

The floor beneath Runner suddenly shifted, then slowly lifted him up in the air and towards an opening in the stands. At the same time, the stone doors slowly opened for Rhydar to walk through, though he didn't move.
"AAAANND WE'RE BACK!!! It seems our lone wolf Runner will be guiding our beloved Prince of thieves through the maze first! Will they succeed?"

"Walk forward about 10 steps, then stop." He walked about the same to a good vantage point in the stands, putting his hands in his pockets.

Rhydar did as told, carefully counting his steps under his breath. "You better not fucking lead me into a trap."
Indeed, there were many traps laid out along the maze, most being some kind of landmine or pressure plate hooked up to some explosive or harmful trap.

"I'm just gonna pretend I know what you're talking about," he muttered, then did as Runner instructed. He jumped over whatever was in his way without setting off any triggers or the like. "Kay. Now what?"

"Uh…" He began pacing. "Four steps forward, then start crawling. There are some waist-high flying axes that would love to catch you in the tummy and show what you had for lunch to the world."

"Fun!" He lowered himself to the dirt and army-crawled under the axes, his heart beating rapidly whenever he felt the air of one whooshing just above him.

A wall slammed down right behind his feet, stopping the jets of fire from going any farther. Runner let out a breath of relief, wiping his forehead. "Alright, up on your feet and 10 steps forward, then a left."
