"Yeah, but you're quite the annoying lightbulb. And I'd rather you not give our location away to anyone nearby who wants us in that." Melanie points a thumb towards the cement room they had just escaped.

"And you're scared of someone who put us in a box? Trust me, if they wanted to kill us, they would have put us in a box full of scorpions, or acid," Lux said with a roll of his eyes
"Scorpions don't kill unless they're threatened, and you could avoid the acid if you turned into a chandelier. Acid isn't cheap." Melanie concluded, looking smugly at Lux. "Oh yeah, and unless you want me calling you, 'Lightbulb,' then I suggest you give us a name to call you by."
"Last time I checked, I already told at least one of you. So I'll say it again–my name is Lux," the dragon hummed, folding his arms across his chest
"Acid isn't that cheap," Baylee added, staring into the forest without actually seeing anything.
"Okay Lux." Melanie noted as she turned to Lee. "I guess, but who'd bother to capture us like that? And put us together?"
"Again, don't know, don't care. I could fly out of here if I wanted, really," Lux said, hands moving up to now rest behind his head with a small smile
"I couldn't care less if you left, Lightbulb." Melanie lied. "It's better you're not here to annoy us anyways."
(would he actually be able to leave? or would he hit like a forcefield or smth?)
(Idk, but I'm assuming that they're all stuck together, and, if Lux did leave, he would be forced to return to everyone else.)
(I'm thinking a force field. They're gonna have to fight some jank pretty soon
(oh fun)
"He couldn't leave if he tried," Baylee mumbled, finally blinking.
"Sorry? What do you mean by that? I'm contemplating whether to trust you or not." Melanie glanced at Lee in slight suspicion.
He turned to her voice. "There's a force field. I can taste it. About a mile in every direction, including up."
"Great. So we're trapped nevertheless? That's great!" Melanie's voice illuminated with sarcasm.
He jabbed a finger in her general area. "Until you're fucking blind, keep that fucking complaining shit to yourself."
Melanie winced at Lee's remark. "I didn't mean to-sorry. I'll shut up." Melanie sighed. "I do not like the idea that we are trapped if your forcefield-sensing is correct." Her voice was calm and quiet.
Lux just gave Melanie a look, which was a tad contradictory considering he himself was annoying as all hell. He folded his arms across his chest now, claws drumming idly as he thought. "Well, does the force field extend underground?" he asked after a moment
Baylee tilted his head, seeming to roll his tongue around in his mouth. He came up with a simple response. "Yeah."
Lux swore under his breath, irritated now as he tapped his foot a few times. “What’s it made of? Magic? Air?” he asked, trying to think of ways he could break through different things, theoretically
A, once again, simple answer. "Metal. Glass, plastic. A little bit of glue." He smacked his lips. "Hm. Seems like the metal's got somethin' on it. Magic, I think."
“I could break through that. Would barely take me anything,” Lux scoffed. So long as the magic wasn’t too crazy, he’d be able to bust through tonight. But at the very worse, he’s just have to wait for more light
He shook his head. "No, you can't. That magic is sucking light from the immediate area. Like a black hole."
"Why am I not surprised?" Lux drawled, clearly just annoyed at this point as he resisted the urge to plop down and pout
