As for what Cain just coughed up, tis what we call part of the corruption. Most all leads back to a great demonic monstrosity that spawned from the deepest hells. The Corruption is parasitic in nature, looking and consuming all natural life and living things, mutating said things to fit their needs
It has even managed to infect us dragons unfortunately…
Mostly parasitic insect-like creatures make up the corruption, but there is the larger ones. All make hives, each hive having a leader, but all leaders answer to the master of the Corruption itself.
