Yikes I really need help with fleshing out my characters! I have the main character down pretty well, but the 2nd most prominent character is bare boned.

I'll be glad to help you out! I'll ask you a few questions about your characters to help develop them a bit more!

  1. What/who would your character die for?
  2. What are some of your characters major flaws?
  3. What would completely break your character?
  4. Who is their best friend/friends
  5. Fondest childhood memory?
  6. What is a hobby they have?
  7. Anything that really annoys them?
  8. Does your character believe it is okay to cry? When was the last time they cried?

Those are just a few I can think of off the top of my head lol. Good luck with your characters!

Some advice she had for me is to start very simple, and to grow it out later. But then don't get carried away with the "inner workings of the mind" part, since a lot of the time we can get way too lost in that and create a human-robot thing with specific rules to their personality that they HAVE to follow. That will actually make them feel LESS real. Humans are more flexible than we realize, and not even we understand the inner workings of our OWN minds most times. :)
