Well first off, emotionally abusive parent. That's the thing I think of first.
She's been told so much from a parent that they were always right and whenever she tried to tell them they were doing something wrong, they used guilt.
She was probably told things like: "No, you should be greatfull I even feed you." "I gave birth to you, be thanking me." And stuff along the lines of this.
Ooh good instincts!! You’re right, Saskia did not have a great relationship with her parents, but the other big thing is that they both died very suddenly when she was 10; so along with growing up only knowing a certain kind of love from adults, she also has some complicated abandonment issues, or rather a detachment to the whole concept: she survived just fine, just fine, without parents breathing over her shoulder or telling her what to do (or offering her support, or helping her), so it’s obviously not hard to take things into your own hands. People have their own lives (people leave), what’s the big deal (everyone leaves, everyone dies), you’re a baby if you get so attached. Obviously these are all coping mechanisms and lies she tells herself haha.
