I need help deciding what my character will look like

I know what he looks like, but I want to give him something about his appearance

I was thinking something like vitiligo or heavy scars. He's an army vetern

Heavy scars sounds cool, especially if he's a veteran. Maybe there's some sort of story behind one really big scar or something?
