I recently renamed a character to make her more racially accurate, but this has caused her name to be similar to another character. Are the names Gina and Jia too similar? I don't want to confuse people.

No, plenty of people have similar names :) The spelling is just different enough so that it shouldn’t be too confusing, and their personalities and appearances should differentiate them as well. Jia and Gina are fine :)

Agreed, I don't think they're too similar ^^ As a person who has two characters named Bernon and Brandon, I have yet to find a more easily-confused duo ^^;

Yeah, I think it works fine. As Jambo said, the spelling is just different enough. I would know, I've had my name(Maya) spelled:
Mia
Maia
Mya
Maiya
