What gender are most of your characters?

Almost all of my main characters are female, and I probably have more female characters in general.

I usually like writing male characters but im trying to balance the situation by adding some females (despite being female myself, i kinda suck at writing girls). Even though i have many male characters
they are usually outside the general male cliche.
Besides these, i have a specie of "technically non binary" creatures im still experimenting with

I have a pretty equal amount of boys and girls and a few NBs

I honestly love doing male characters - females, not so much. I can succesfully write a feminine boy but not a girl
Is it that bad if my male to female ratio is unbalanced?

But for some reason, whenever I give any of them powers, it always ends up being about the mind. Luke can sense emotions and read some thoughts, Bridge can turn emotions into a physical force, Maysa creates illusions, Sita heals people by way of belief, and P.J is a master of emotional yin/yang.

I have like 7ish characters so far, not including Nightmare (my antagonist) because Nightmare isn’t human/a person. (It’s more like a shadow, that can take the form of a human or be just pure darkness)
3 female - Emma, Kam, Lia
2 main male - Liam, Caleb (+1 more minor character - King Moonsong, Kam’s dad)
And 1 non-binary - Ash
Well I guess you can add one more male and one more female for Emma’s parents, but they’re barely in it and not even named

With the first part, pretty much same! Except only one of my guys is gay (Liam but shh he doesn’t know it yet), but they’re both cinnamon rolls. Kam is a QUEEN. (She made a whole pack of Nightmare wolves run away because they were scared of her.) Emma is more introverted and likes reading and writing, and I’m not that far in the story but Emma will have a chance to be a queen too. And Lia is a cute little cinnamon roll who loves hugs and sees everyone as a potential new friend, and also loves painting

I'm a girl, and I always have female protagonists because they're who I relate to most, but then again, I should probably go outside of my comfort zone once…

Slightly more females than males. I don't run into the trouble of making convincing female characters because A) their gender typically doesn't matter in terms of their character arcs or B) their gender plays an interesting role in how characters view them/by what challenges they face, thus making their chatacter arc more complex. Idk why, but my female characters are more often in positions of power than my male characters. My smartest chatacter is a top scientist, my strongest character is a general, and most diplomatic character is a leader. I find it easier to write female characters because most main characters in popular fiction and movies are male. I just feel like it's been done before. For example, a chatacter of mine is going to have a roughly similar arc to Logan in Logan, Frank Castle in the Punisher and Tony Stark in Endgame. I haven't seen a woman with that arc yet, but I've seen lots of dudes with it. It just makes it easier to add new elements… since women are largely ignored in fiction, or given "empowering" arcs (which i enjoy but cmon).

That's really interesting. See, you said you were a girl, right? I feel like it's easier to write about characters that are my gender. (I'm a girl too) So, why do you see boys as easier to write about?

i find it easy to draw girls. but harder to come up with them so i usually spend an hour drawing a guy.

I currently only have 2 characters (a boy and girl,) whom I'm actively using for things, but I have older characters who need revamped. I tend to make more girl characters, but I've been more attached to my male character recently.
