I can see how it could seem excessive, but her parents really thought that's how to raise an autistic child. Things like it happen to disabled kids every day.

Due to the sheer amount of time spent trekking through sentient (and malicious) woods, most of the members of the Expedition Force have had their noses broken by the branches, among other injuries.
Miette fell out of her group's boat while crossing a frigid river in winter, she was pulled out in time but still fell very ill. She ended up permanently deaf in one ear.

I meant more of the whole "BDSM flogger" bit. I know how disabled kids can be mistreated, and I am autistic myself :)
It just rings as exploitative to me.
((which is correct but….they used a bdsm flogger? instead of like a belt or something, which is a lot more commonly used when it comes to abuse? idk it just seems wack that that's what they use, of all the things))
Fair. Her parents already had it and figured "hey, double duty" so yeah. I can get carried away sometimes.
And I'm autistic too.

Yes, that's why I mentioned that I am.
Ah, I'm dumb lol

Also I'm sorry, but these parents are using the flogger that they beat their disabled daughter with….during sex? I understand that you're young, but do you have any idea how disgusting that implication is?
Cezary thought he had something with Daemeth, but well, he didn’t.
Daemeth bit his throat out then took his tongue as a trophy. She also snapped his right arm. He survived, but not for long.
For Daemeth, money is worth more than love. If she even felt any sense of love to begin with.
Piotr, while trying to track down Daemeth was also confronted by Dignai later on, who slowly broke Piotr’s fingers. This doesn’t compare to how Piotr effectively ensured Dignai would never ever bother anyone ever again, with a shotgun blast to the body.

Also neurodivergent; not that young. On the one hand: I agree with you on this. On the other hand: I'm aware of similar things having happened in real life to neurodivergent kids (reality, as they say, is unrealistic). I say: if you go with that idea (personally, I'd make it a belt, just to reduce the likelihood of it in any way reading as exploitative; but that's just me): hammer it in that this is horrible on every possible level.

There are very pedophilic undertones present with the flogger; if you don't address them, it's best to use the belt, if it must be included at all.

I actually edited my post a little. Yes, I've heard of abusers casually beating their kids with their sex toys in real life; I would still have it be the belt, just in order to reduce the chance that it'd be even accidentally read as exploitative. The only possible take I can see working for the flogger idea is…well, yeah; to pretty much treat it as CSA.

All of them were very hurt by Karák’s betrayal; Gaudári especially had to help Zol from breaking down.
Zol: One of his worst moment she was realizing his diplomacy wasn’t going to stop a war.
Karák: He was blamed from birth for the death of his mother and emotionally abused.
Gáius: His younger brother died when Gáius was about fifteen. Also he might have autism based struggles but I don’t know.
Vetáki: Mild issues related to being in combat at a young age, as well as homesickness.
Haidráqo: Kind of neglectful father but not much more than that.
Gaudári: Homesickness from leaving her family that she may meet again later but I don’t know.
‘Kaion: Severe emotional and some physical abuse that lead to her becoming mute for a few years and caused her hair to go white.
Ankro: He lived with all that happened to ‘Kaion, even though he was never the direct object of their parents wrath.

Karák: He was blamed from birth for the death of his mother and emotionally abused.
Oh hey, that's what happened to Huxley. Not to mention that he also watched his father's hanging as a kid.
Big yikes. Karák hated his dad and never looked back after saying goodbye. He was a good kid for a while and then started murdering people because he was really fed up with the whole pacifism thing Zol insisted everyone do.

Azami: Her mother died after childbirth, which she was blamed for, and two years later, she was locked away until she was four. Fast forward 5 years, one of her sworn older brothers dies(He didn't really die, but she didn't find out for another 12 years). 10 years later, her other older brother dies(for real this time), plus she gets badly burned.
Jax: Her parents died when she was 4, then she had to watch her sister die 2 years later, and had to live on her own on a war-torn island, narrowly escaping a genocide.
I have more, but they're not very fleshed out yet

Addie had to take on some slightly illegal jobs to earn money, and one of them was running documents between members of what was essentially her planet's city council. One of them, unbeknownst to her, contained highly confidential information, but the wax seal had been poorly applied and came undone while she was smuggling it. The official who received the note was outraged, assuming that Addie read it, and cut out one of her eyes.
Okay, by the way, the more worse the situation is, the more I like that character. I do this weird thing where if they have a more traumatic backstory, it's my way of saying, I love this character. IDK, I'm weird.
Truly: Was told all of his friends would live if he brought the main character and her group to the villain, The Clock Queen. On the sly, she had already killed all of his friends, because she's frickin' evil. She just wanted to toy with him. And if she broke him, she knew she could use him for info on the main characters, because without his friends to threat, she knew he wouldn't care anymore. But knew he would try to have the main character (Klyria) help him save his friends. And she had to keep promises. Then, after discovering that they were all dead, he goes crazy and tries to save their souls which the Queen has stolen to use for magical purposes. He goes against everyone, not wanting to get attached to anyone ever again and be broken. Klyria and her group find him again at some point, cause he ran off after going crazy, and they take it the wrong way. At first he tries to dispose of them, but Klyria, being stubborn and forgiving tries to convince him to come back with them and they would help free his friends. But he doesn't want to be hurt anymore and declines, several times until Klyria decides she has to walk away. Later, (yeah theres more!) He thinks he is ready to fight the Queen and steal the necklace she wears, that holds their souls. He is not. DUR DUR DUR! (P.S. I have several races of fairies and elves in different elements and stuff. There is also a race of living dolls, Truly is one of these, meaning he is kinda small) He gets captured, and she would have killed him, but she wanted info on the main characters. So she tortures him for weeks, until he finally tells her, then instead of killing him, cause she knows he wants to die, she just keeps him there, until Klyria and the gang come. She knew where their safe place was, and while she met them there, they barely escaped, and she told them that Truly gladly told her their location. Later they find Truly and he tells them that the Queen tortured him for so long, but they don't believe him, and leave him there instead of helping him escape. He escapes on his own later, and feels betrayed, he knew none of them would have lasted that long before they spilled it. He wanders away, and later crosses paths with them again, free's his friends finally, and dies because of the Queen, because now, if he is alive, he could steal the necklace. He breaks it right before he dies, and Klyira and the gang see all their spirits walk away.

Sadon was literally stabbed by his boyfriend and nearly died. And lay on the ground, bleeding out, while watching said boyfriend then kill his grandfather. So….

Okay same though. If you're ever wondering who my favourite characters are just figure out who has the most tragic backstory and there you go. There's you're answer.

Myles lived for three million years in a small, white room with only a mirror inside it. Then, when he finally broke free, he got corrupted, which is extremely painful, and he ended up having his head bashed in with a baseball bat.
Other than Frost dying…uh…
Winter almost got stabbed to death (still has scars)
This is a bit yikes, but everyone is a little hard to kill because their biological composition gives them quite the healing factor, but they suffer grotesque injuries as a result.
Elizabeth: In order to properly handle alchemy, she etched alchemical symbols into the flesh of her back, arms, and facial cheeks. Whenever she casts alchemical magic, she effectively is burning herself and has to endure severe pain if she wants to feel useful in battle.
Crefus: He has horns growing out of his head. That's not the painful part. One of the horns is smaller than the other and he admits that in a fit of extreme depression, he ripped one of his horns off in the hopes that he would bleed out. He tried doing it with his bare claws at first and then used a sharp knife to pry it off his skull after his first few attempts failed.
Hecate: THIS ONE OKAY. So for starters, she nearly tore her throat apart with magic curse acid and threw it up before it could do anymore damage to her. She did not gain any physical disfigurement, but she can no longer taste. At random points when she experimented with magic, she sprouted random limbs from her torso, altering her skeletal structure and muscle mass in a painful way. All the extra limbs were amputated while she was conscious and her bodily systems were repaired with extensive care. Then there was the time she accidentally summoned eye tumors on her body that spread from the outer surface of her skin to the interior layer of her organ linings and that was tricky to deal with. (poor liz has to be her doctor for a majority of these mishaps) And let's get into the time she just casually bursts her own heart. And lived. Because she had a "back up." She's their groups little Rasputin.
Hex: Imagine Hecate, but on steroids and instead of accidentally doing all that stuff she did it on purpose. For starters, she elongated her spine to be about 9 feet long (she was 11 when she did all this, so yeah) and altered her general skeletal structure, specifically her skull, for maximum creepiness. Each tooth had been reformed into a fang, is now about 18 inches in length, and her eyes distort her face viscerally since they're one of the biggest parts of her body. Besides her hands. Or right her hands. So her claws used to be proportional to her body, but she engorged them on extra bone and flesh so they could be bigger and sharper. Her hair is basically just solidified acid. It decays and melts any material ever and blood has also been altered to be dangerous and volatile. And yes, she felt extreme and severe and fatal amounts of pain as she did this to herself, but she was willing to endure all of it just to become a true monster.
Hel: This one is excruciatingly sensitive including death, infant death, and cannibalism
Hel was pregnant with her child when she was hunted down and torn apart. Her ribs were impaled first and when she was thrown to the ground a painful…… removal was performed. Completely obliterated, she helplessly watched as her child was devoured before her very eyes. And then herself. #yikes
I could go on FOREVER but i'll cut it short yeet
Actual serious injuries would go to Jabun.
Jabun tried to steal the three gems from the temple of time, and after the three goddesses caught him and he tried to explain why he did it he was put through many harsh trials, one of them being bamboo torture. Others included drowning, hanging, having to crawl through mud with his legs broken, but he survived all of it and got the title of the Water Spirit. He got to keep one gem, the Zora's sapphire, which later evolved into Nayru's Pearl.
mental pain would go to Jilden.
The fused shadow sucks so much energy and magic out of you that when you use it it feels like your brain is rotting. Jilden has used the fused shadow so many times that it does not bother him anymore, but the first few times using it he felt like he was going to die.
Basically, two bros, chillin in pain, universes apart cause they're not gay
