Yes, there is a large difference. Dice are used a lot in the world of DnD, and in a variety of ways.

Damage Dice are the dice you roll when you successfully land an attack hit. Different damage dice are used for different attacks, as specified in the attack description.
Hit Dice are the dice you use to recover lost HP during a rest. (This may be different for this specific campaign because Potions exist in plenty in this universe).

The information and templates for the campaign are all here in this chat. From what I understand, once enough members are gathered, we'll move over to Discord for actual gameplay.

I really suggest you go read the PHB for the campaign. That'll probably clear up a lot of questions you have.

Yeah, it's helpful. I also found that typing questions into google search were helpful if you included the campaign 5e.

2. We should be starting soon, after everyone's characters have been done (I know the Pokemon are easier to make because it is quite literally a copy-paste situation).
3. I will create a Discord server and make it so people could spectate and perhaps theorize about what's to come. so @Dragongirl2468 , if you wanted to watch us play and get a grasp of D&D that way, you certainly can!

I understand D&D perfectly, it's just that the Pokemon version is confusing. Thanks though!

I have the Discord server made, I just need to add roles, make rules, make sure everything works, etc.
