(Great you can just jump in)
Harry Potter role play
(i'd love to but i'm just a tad lost…are they being sorted right now?)
(No they are at the hogwarts express at platform 9 and 3 quarters)
(okay cool, got it!)
Jacks gaze drifted back to his black spotted brown owl a he slept quietly
"Nine and three quarters, nine and three quarters…." Cedar mumbled under his breath, scanning for a sign or something to direct him. Then he nearly facepalmed as he remembered what his mother had said, and knowingly watched as a family stepped right through a magical barrier not twenty feet away from him. "Aspen, I know you hate this, but hold on just a little longer…" he told the cat that was struggling to free herself of his messenger bag. His tongue peeked out from between his lips as he concentrated on wheeling his cart with all his luggage as subtly as he could towards the brick wall. He glanced at the time and nearly sighed in relief. "Ten more minutes, I'm fine," he continued encouraging himself, then took the leap, or rather push, of faith that sent him to the other side. "Platform nine and three quarters! I made it!" he cheered, then immediately swerved as he nearly hit another person. "Sorry!" he called out, laughing apologetically. Five minutes later, and with some help from a few older students, he had his stuff safely on the train and was now picking his way through the hallways of the train, cradling Aspen in his arms as he looked for a place to sit. He heard voices from one of the compartments and eagerly knocked on the door before opening it. "Hi! Is it alright with you if I sit in here?" he asked the three of them politely, noting the owl and the other cat. Aspen also seemed to notice them, and began squirming to get down. "Aspen!" he whispered scoldingly, holding her in place.
“It’s fine with me” he said. As he looked up to the boy
Cedar grinned and looked to the others briefly, then slipped in before anyone could oppose the other boy. "Hello! Wait, I already said that… My name's Cedar, and this is Aspen!" he introduced, holding a hand out to Jack since he was closest. With his other hand he kept a tight hold of Aspen. "And before you ask, yes I know we're both named after trees, and yes, it was intentional," he explained, a grin on his face at the prospect of making a friend.
Jack shook Cedar’s hand “I’m Jackson you can call me jack” he looked at his owl “the most hilarious thing is that my owl’s name is chestnut” after he said this Chestnut hooted in response
He laughed and nodded. "That's kind of awesome, actually," he told him. "But it's nice to meet you!" He glanced curiously at the others in the compartment and asked, "I'm not the only first year, right? What houses do you guys think you'll be sorted into?"
“No idea”
"Me neither, but my mom was a Ravenclaw. I don't know how I'd feel about being in Ravenclaw, but I'm sure wherever I end up will be good. Wait, what if I'm Slytherin?" he suddenly blurted, eyes lighting up in a way that most definitely hinted that he was not going to end up a Slytherin. "The green and silver don't match my eyes," he complained dramatically after a moment, settling down to pet Aspen.
He chuckled quietly as the train started to move
As the train moved across London jack just stared out the window he thought to himself London is so beautiful, after a few minutes the train started traveling through rolling hills
(Hello)
(should i just respond because i feel like it's weird if the other characters are essentially nonexistent the entire time, and randomly pop back in?)
(Crap, I'm sorry about that! I'll see if I can get on today after I finish my homework)
(It’s fine)
(You can respond to the if you want, or talk to the other characters)
Zyra smiled at the man that had come into the compartment. "Hey, I'm Zyra." She then turned her attention to Jack. "The traits for Gryffindor are daring, brave, and valiant. Ravenclaw is Intelligent, clever, witty, and creative. Hufflepuff is reliable, loyal, diligent, and kind. Slytherin is cunning, ambitious, creative, and ingenious. Also, remember, everyone has some of these traits but they're placed in different houses because one trait is more prominent than the other. For example, everyone is kind to some degree but not everyone is in Hufflepuff since they show other traits even more than kindness." She explained in one breath. "Does that make sense?"
Cedar smiled at her and nodded, saying, "Good explanation! But there's also the stereotypes with each house… Like, 'Ravenclaws are really nerdy,' or 'Gryffindors are unbearably self-righteous,' or 'Hufflepuff are weak and non-confrontational,' or 'Slytherins are all evil.' That obviously isn't always the case, but my mom told me how the different houses discriminate against each other, especially between Gryffindors and Slytherins." He went quiet for a brief moment. "What house do you think you'll be put in?" he asked Zyra.
"I know right, I don't get why everyone thinks Slytherins are all evil. I mean, sure, there might be some Slytherins that are evil but most of them just do anything to get what they want which everyone thinks is 'mean' and 'evil' Zyra replied, feeling happy that someone understood her. "I don't know, but Ravenclaw would probably be the best for me. What house do you think you'll be in?" She asked, smiling back.
"Right! Actually, I don't see why even most Slytherin traits are considered bad?" He looked at Aspen, biting his lip in deliberation at Zyra's question. "I've thought about it a lot, but I'm not entirely sure. I'd say either Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? The thing is, I don't know whether to hope I can follow in my mom's footsteps by being in Ravenclaw, or hope for Hufflepuff… What do you guys think?" he asked, wondering if they had any advice for him.
Zyra nodded along, her dark eyes lighting up like they usually did whenever she was interested in something. "Based on what I know about you, I think you'd be a Ravenclaw…Don't complain if the sorting hat yells Hufflepuff or another house though."
“I guess for me maybe Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. but whatever house you are placed in just be yourself.”
"I agree with that, you shouldn't try to be different because you were put in a house you didn't think you would be put in. Unless you're in Ravenclaw, then go the library and study because the questions the eagle asks are pretty hard since it asks every student a different question based on what they know and don't know."
"Wow…nice speech you two!" he teased. "I think you're right, though. And honestly? I hope we can be friends, even if we get sorted into other houses," Cedar told them.
“Yeah we can be friends no matter the house”
Zyra chuckled. "Oh shut up. Also yes, I'm going to be friends with you no matter what house you're sorted into."
As the train was heading over an lady with cart covered in food opened the compartment door “anything from the trolley dears”
