“Fiinneee,” Cato said, half-joking. “I suppose I’ll wait and just murder my pillow later.” He noticed that the third year had left the new boy. “Darn. I guess I have to go talk to him now.”

"Justice? Cookies? W-What're you talking about?" Jay cocked his head to the side slightly, confused. He had heard of cookies, of course, but had never actually had one. It wasn't the sort of thing his parents bought, and his meals almost always consisted of whatever small bits of food he could sneak from the fridge or pantry without them noticing. That was the main reason he was so thin, and why his eating patterns were so erratic and inconsistent. At the opening ceremony, his heart nearly stopped at the amount of food that had appeared on the table. He hadn't known what to do with himself, never having seen anywhere near that amount of food of that quality in his entire life.

"Come on, I'll show you. People need to learn not to mess with any of us. We stick together." Melanthea says fiercely.

Jay was still incredibly confused, but followed Melanthea. After all, he hadn't a clue where to go or what to do anyways.

Melanthea leads Jay to the Gryffindor common room. "Champs!" She barks at the painting and it swings open. She hops inside, with Jay closely following her.
"Hey, no Slytherins allowed! A boy protests.
"I'm looking for a first-year girl named Euadne!" She calls, ignoring the boy. A petite girl steps forward.
"What do you want, mixed blood hater?" She asks rudely. You can practically hear the breath being sucked in by the older years.
"For one, you can stop calling me a mixed blood hater, because I'll have you know that my mother is a muggle, and if you even think that about me again, you'll end up in the lake. I want you to apologize to Isidora for calling her evil, and give us a bag of cookies right now to give to her."
"Yeah, right." The girl scoffs, "It's pretty obvious you two are just going to eat them."
"Give us a bag of cookies, or you'll regret it." Melanthea threatens.
"What are you going to do?" She scoffs, "Punch me? You'll get detention for sure."
"No, worse." Melanthea says, "I know your brother. He's told me things about you, and I will share them with the entire school."
"Like what?" The girl asks with a grin. Melanthea leans over and whispers something in her ear. The girl's eyes go wide, and she rushes over to one of her trunks and thrusts a bag of cookies at Jay.
"Here, just take them!" She yells. Turning around cooly, Melanthea says, "Apologize to your friend tomorrow." And walks out of the common room. "You can divide those in two." She tells Jay, "And have half of them if you want."

"JUSTICE COOKIES!!!" Melanthea screams, running the rest of the way back to the Slytherin common room. She arrives laughing.

Valerie laughed and pulled him into a kiss before gently pushing him towards the boy. “Go socialize - i’ll Sit here and wait for Kestrel or someone to find me.”

"Uh, can someone explain what exactly this is?" Jay examined the bag as he hurriedly left the room. He could tell they were clearly not supposed to be there. Stop meddling in things that are none of your business, boy! Jay flinched at his father's voice inside his head, accompanied with shattering glass. It seemed so loud, but he knew it was only in his head. He tried to remember if he had ever actually been called by his name by his parents, but he couldn't think of any such time. He had always just been 'boy', and wasn't allowed to call his parents 'mom' or 'dad'. They were always to be referred to as 'ma'am' and 'sir'. He shuddered slightly, trotting along silently beside Melanthea.

Cato sat up begrudgingly, not wanting to leave Val. “Oh, oops,” he said, clearly unconcerned. “Must’ve missed him.” Her gestured to the spot where the boy had been but was no longer.
