Uhhh, can you?
Newsies!
(Yep! Also, I'm going to keep Jack's name the same and it can just be short for Jacqueline.)
Jack woke up on the rooftop to rain. She sighed and got up, looking down at her wet clothing.
"What'cha thinking 'bout?" Crutchie asked from her spot propped up against a small wall, huddled under a overhang so she didn't get wet.
“Whether I have any dry clothes.” Jack said, looking over at Crutchie. “I can probably just borrow some of the boy’s clothes.”
"Okay! You can come under here if ya want!" She said with a smile, patting the spot next to her.
Jack smiled and sat next to Crutchie.
(Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention, no sexual stuff please. Sorry.)
(I don't do that stuff)
"Where we gonna hit today?" She asked with an energetic tilt to her voice as she practically bounced.
(Ok good. I was just making sure)
“Racer’s sick, so the racetracks are open. They get pretty good sales over there.”
"Nice! 's he 'kay?"
“He woke up last night with a nightmare, but he’s alright. Cough won’t seem to go away, though. So I’m not lettin’ him go out until he’s better, certainly not in this weather.”
"Good," Crutchie said, shifting a bit so she could lay her head on Jack's shoulder. "We have so much time before we have to go."
“Crutch-“ Jack was cut off by a boy climbing the ladder to the roof. “Hey, Romeo.”
Crutchie waved from her spot. "Hey Romie!" She said, using the nickname she has for him.
Romeo looked extremely concerned. “Race is sick.” Jack looked at him, confused. “Yeah… we knew that a while ago.”
“Jack, he’s REALLY sick.”
Jack leapt up.
Crutchie grabbed her crutch and got up as fast as she could, wobbling over to the stairs that went down the roof.
(I have to go for a little while, I’ll be back around 9:00.)
Jack raced down and into the boy’s room. She knelt down next to Race’s bed. The rest of the boys were awake, which was going to make the situation ten times worse.
Crutchie hobbled down to his room, leaning over him. "Are you throwing up? Blood or vomit? Let me see if you have a fever!" She rushed out, leaning on her crutch and checking his temp.
(Ok so i have like five minutes)
“Crutchie!” Jack said, pullingthe other girl away gently. “Can you get the other boys to back off a little bit?” The other boys had crowded around them by this point, all clamoring to see what was wrong with Race.
"Out, out, out!" She exclaimed, making shooing motions with her hands to make them go away. "He has a slight fever, now shoo and go seel some pape's!"
When the other boys left, Jack turned to Crutchie. “Why don’t you sell with Specs or something? I’m gonna stay with Race.” She was pretty concerned for Race, who’s fever was WAY too high.
"Nu'uh. I'm staying here." She declared, crossing her arms after plopping down onto the nearest bed.
“Crutchie, you need the money…”
"Nope, I need my friend to be healthy."
Jack laughed lightly. She brushed Race’s hair away from his forehead and was astounded by how hot he was.
"How bad is it?" She asked, worry clear in her voice as she did so.
“He’s really hot. I-I’m not sure.”
I must be going//
(Alright, bye.)
