"Bringing up the point I made last night, even if it is stupid, are you sure you're in any condition to be working? You were so exhausted that you didn't even make it home last night.." He sighed as his eyes met Shuichi's. "Be honest with me here. I'm not trying to worry; I'm just trying to make sure you're okay.."

" i- " he sighed " i not sure okay? im just trying my best. its all i can do," he said softy and leaned on kaito. he was tired but his station needed him.

"I never said you had to know for sure. I just wanted you to be honest with me.." He held the other close to him. "Given what's going on, I'll let you go to work, but I seriously have to remind you to take a break if it becomes too much for you. I don't need you collapsing because of exhaustion, you know.."

" yeah, " he chuckled softly, nuzzling into the crook of kaitos neck. " your always so warm, how?" he asked jokingly

Kaito chuckled at the question. "It's just natural, I guess." He replied in the same joking manner that Shuichi had asked in. "Good to see you're in a better mood."

shuchi sighed softly. " you can come to work with me if you want, just to sooth your stressing. but either way i still have to go. " he said and sat up all the way.

"I'll stick around if I can, but I'm not sure they're gonna allow some random person to just randomly stand there. I'm still gonna try just to make sure you'll be okay.." He stood up, and his tone was implying that he still had his doubts, but he was considerably less worried that the previous night.

shuchi nodded and stood up, stretching out his smaller body. " so did you ever find anyone after high school?" he asked

Kaito sighed and shook his head. "I wanted to date Maki, but it turns out that she's lesbian, so that didn't work out. I think she's dating Kaede now, and I'm happy for them." He smiled a bit. "What about you?"

"no, no one really knows me enough to get that close, or they just didn't try," he said and looked to the other for a moment before walking out to the street with the other.

"That's fair, really." He nodded in understanding.

After that conversation, they fell silent. Neither really knew what to say. Before they really knew it, they had found their way back to the crime scene that Shuichi was investigating the night before.

shuchi sighed and got back to work, picking out details he hadn't seen during the night. he immediately started to piece things together, his little stature running around and trying to get things. it was honestly kinda cute to see him thinking so hard.

Kaito did find that to be rather adorable. He smiled at it and would think about it throughout the day, though he remained silent, knowing that Shuichi needed to focus on everything if the case was going to get solved. Things were fairly calm for a while…

shuchi sat huffing as hed ran everywhere hed gone " i got it! the boss knows." he said and took a deep breath to slow his racing heart

So, he's reached a conclusion. I knew he would. Kaito continued to smile to himself as he thought that, watching as Shuichi figured things out.

shuchi looked up to kaito " wanna sit?"

He looked at Shuichi, snapping out of his random thoughts of how adorable his best friend was. "I wouldn't mind. I see you've figured things out. I knew you would!"

shuchi smiled brightly " thanks for believing in me!" he said and giggled a bit

Kaito smiled in response. "I'll always believe in you, Shuichi! I mean, you're my best friend, and you're generally amazing!"

" you to kaito!" He said and smiled " let's get going. Their going to leave it to forensic for now."

"Well, now that you're done with that case for right now, what do you wanna do?" Kaito couldn't help but smile as he looked at the other, knowing how happy he was.

" I'm up for anything right about now," he said and stood up.

"I mean, same, really." Kaito stood up and then thought for a moment. "You wanna go get some food?"

" sure, " he said and happily walked beside the other. A few times their hands had touched but he really hadn't payed and attention to it

Kaito hadn't noticed it that often as well, spending the walk to the restaurant he wanted to take Shuichi to happily chatting with him, catching up with him. Soon, they arrived, and they continued chatting with each other. They were having a good time.

Shuchi kept laughing, loving the stories kaito gave him. He'd never smiled so often. " Wow, you've sure stayed busy."

Kaito simply enjoyed being able to tell Shuichi all of his stories, and he loved how the other genuinely enjoyed them. As he explained them in more detail, he was getting even more excited due to his friend's interest in them. While he was beginning to yell simply from all the excitement, it was otherwise a fun time.

Shuchi had noticed his voice tone. " Shh kaito, you'll get us in trouble " he said with a smile.

"Sorry, sorry.." He apologized before going back to updating Shuichi on everything that had happened, smiling the entire time.

Shuchi had listened to hole time they ate, at one point snorting his milk so hard it came through his nose " owe!~" jhe said though laughs
