Evander Weylyn's people have no idea what their young king did to defend them when their country was on the verge of defeat. They have no idea how much the young man lost, the monster that he became to keep them safe.

And he intends to keep it that way.

Someone new has arrived in the palace. Someone who doesn't know not to ask, someone who doesn't know that he doesn't want to talk about it. Someone who keeps asking questions about everything; every little thing, every little strange detail.

Evander is so tired of fighting himself. He is so tired of deflecting questions and hiding how deep the breakage is. How fractured his soul has become. And so when this new person arrives, he isn't sure what to do.

Your character is the new person. They could be an ambassador, visitors from another country, a noble, pretty much anything. I will be Evander. This will be a Romance, it takes place in a fantasy world. It can be straight or gay, i have no preference.

Looks: Evander is tall, with broad shoulders and a well muscled body. He has grey eyes that sometimes seem to flash red. His hair is a muddy blonde, with a single streak of black near his temples. He has various scars and markings on his body from things, and keeps them hidden.
Normal clothes: Well made, fine clothing. Always wears stuff that covers his arms and back, no matter what. He has a silver signet ring on his left hand, and wears at least a golden circlet on his head, if not the crown.

Titles: Advisor to the Crown Prince of Evaria, Grim(to anyone who knows her as a Reaper)

Eye color: An icy blue inherited from her father’s side of the family.
Hair: White. Like, shocking snow white. She's not supposed to cut it, so it’s about to the point between her shoulder blades when down, though she usually keeps it pulled up into a high ponytail.
Height: 5’3
Skin tone: A lighter olive, that tans pretty well during the summer.
Build: Inherited her mother’s curves, but they’ve been sort of packed down under the muscle she’s built up while training and doing very un-royal things. Toned and defined in certain areas, but still can’t lose those curves.
Scars: Plenty of scars, though quite a few are smaller ones. The most notable start with the scar from a knife that just barely missed her heart, the long claw marks on her abdomen from an attack, and a circular scar on her right thigh that she refuses to talk about, that has a perfect, if slightly smaller, match on the other side of her leg. All, in fact, are ones she doesn’t want to talk about.
Other: Has a small snowflake tattooed behind her left ear, and a tattoo sleeve on her right arm of a blizzard(the storm kind, not the Dairy Queen kind) in silver, that appeared naturally. A scythe in black ink is tattooed on her inner right wrist amidst the snowflakes as well.
Normal clothes: Figure hugging black trousers, made of a fabric easy to move in, and black boots. Wears more sleeveless shirts in either black or dark blue, her kingdom's main color. Her blue and silver advisor's jacket is the one she wears while at her palace or ones they're visiting, but she wears short 'leather jacket' out and about when not with anyone from that world, one with a skeleton holding a scythe stitched on it, along with the word 'Reapers'. A hand woven rope bracelet and silver locket are the only jewelry she wears.
Other: Is not technically royalty, but rose her way through the ranks, and is best friends with the crown prince of her kingdom. She has a place at his side as his advisor and right hand as soon as he inherits the throne.

She and the crown prince are at Evander's palace on a diplomatic trip, that was supposed to be part of a longer trip where they stayed a few days at each stop and then moved on. The prince, however, was injured after falling off of a horse, and now they're staying just a bit longer there as he heals, with permission of course

Evander was out in the gardens, standing with his eyes closed and his arms crossed. The prince of Evaria was staying for extra time, due to injury, and…he wasn't sure how well he would hold up. It was so hard to stay in control, to keep himself from hurting people. The nobles, the guards, the servants, they all knew to leave him alone, to not talk to him unless necessary. But the prince and the woman with him…did not. They wouldn't know to steer clear of the royal wing after dark, indeed, wouldn't know to stay in their rooms. They had been told at the start of their stay that the palace was dangerous at night, but they didn't know why. They didn't know not to ask about the screaming that he knew echoed down the hallways. His own, from nightmares or from the monster that haunted his mind and soul. He wasn't sure what to do if they found out.

The gardens were peaceful. Khoine had noted that as soon as she’d stepped foot into them on the first day, and even now, that was the thought that met her mind. And she loved the peace. Even with her token scythe in hand, blade made of what looked like ice and may or may not have in fact been ice, swinging with a sharp and practiced accuracy, the peace flooded her. It was the perfect place to train while she was here. Away from the bustle and the prying eyes of servants and other visitors like her, who seemed entirely too curious about the woman so close to the visiting prince. White hair, short stature, and her emotionless didn’t make for a good combination when it came to avoiding scrutiny, let alone the tattoos crawling up her arm. She as even more of a pariah than her prince, it seemed.

Evander sat down, taking a deep breath. Stay calm. You know the monster only comes out when you lose control. He told himself, taking off the crown and fidgeting with it for a moment, looking down at the golden, shining metal. It was new. The original crown had been destroyed in the war. This one contained fragments of the one that his father had worn, and his father's father before him. This one contained the same gems, and a few scraps of the gold, but a different design and a different look. A different feel. He knew that many, upon seeing him, did not see the resemblance to his father. His father had been warm, and kind. Evander himself was just… removed. Distant. Cold. He had to be. He couldn't let anyone get close enough to find out what he had become.

Khione may have been a bit too lost in her mind. This fact proved to be true as soon as a small black cat darted into the paved clearing she was in, letting out a loud yowl of greeting. In her surprise, Khione hit the ground with a soft yelp, scraping the palms of her hands raw as she tried to catch herself. “Thanatos, you hellion.” She hissed at her cat, gritting her teeth as she tried and failed to push herself into a standing position. “We have talked about this. You can’t just scream like that.”

At the cat's yowl, Evander jumped up, prowling through the garden in search. He spotted Khione and the cat, and sighed. He walked over to her. "Do you need assistance?" He asked, reaching out to help her up. He had set the crown back on his head on the way here, and sighed softly, looking down at her. I wish she and that crown prince would just…go home. I don't have the control to…to keep this facade up. Taking a deep breath, he kept a careful control on himself.

Khione didn’t start at the King’s sudden arrival, just blinked up at him once, blue eyes the color of the ice up in the mountains of her home land, cold and unforgivingly beautiful. “I wouldn’t want to get any blood on you.” She stayed simply, lifting a skinned palm to show him the damage. The skin was raw and red in the places that it hadn’t been almost completely stripped, and her other hand had a gash from a sharp rock. “But thank you. I should have payed more attention to my surroundings.”

Evander frowned slightly, and grabbed her wrist instead, lightly pulling her up. "You're welcome. Do you need a healers attention for that? I can show you where to go." His voice was distant, emotionless. It always was. The clothing he wore was simple, almost reminiscent of a military dress uniform. It was a dove grey, and cut to fit his form. The sleeves were long, covering his arms. All in all, it was a neat outfit, suitable for just about anything.

Khione’s lips parted as Evander lifted her up, mouth forming an ‘o’ of surprise. Carefully, she took her hand back once up, checking over both of them. “No. All I really need is some bandaging.” And a drink. “So on second thought, direction might be nice. I do believe I used up the last of my bandages when Gio-Prince Giovanni fell from his horse.” She mused to herself, glancing up at the king to study him with a sharply intelligent eye.

Evander nodded. "Come on, then." He beckoned with a hand, leading her back into the palace. He led her into a room, where an older woman was busily working. She looked up when they entered.

"Oh, good morning, your highness. More injuries? Did you throw something again?" She asked. "Or is it the nightmares again?"

Evander's eyes flashed red for a moment. "No. I'm not here for me. This is Khione, from Prince Giovanni's delegation. She hurt herself."

Khione arched a pale eyebrow as the woman spoke, her eyes turning to Evander just in time to catch his eyes flash. That's…strange, to say the least. She knew all about nightmares, and the things that caused them to be so commonly recurring that others would know of them. It may be prying, but she was a curious soul at heart, even if she refused to admit it, so she made a mental note to ask as soon as this was over. Turning back to the woman, she lifted her hands, palm out to allow her to see. "Bandages would be appreciated, to wrap these with. If it's not too much of a bother."

The woman smiled. "Ah, I see." She replied, grabbing some bandages. "Let me see." She examined Khione's hands, then started bandaging them up, humming all the while.

Evander sat down, not saying a word as the woman worked. I have to tell her to stop blurting questions like that. Now I'm going to have to answer irritating questions about that.

Khione stood patiently, icy blue eyes flickering lazily around the room, taking it in. The way she stood was strange, straight backed but shoulders not ramrod straight like a noble-born would stand, instead stiffly relaxed. Like she'd taught herself to stand that way, but couldn't quite get it right. As soon as the healer was done, she thanked her, nodding once as she stepped back to test the movement of her hands. "Thank you, again, ma'am. Infections aren't fun."

She turned to the king, letting the other woman get back to work. "Nightmares?"

The woman nodded. "Of course. If you need anything else, feel free to come back." She went back to her work.

Evander's eyes tightened, and he looked away. "Nothing important." He replied calmly. "Come. Where were you planning on going?" He asked, walking to the door and hoping she wouldn't asks again. If she asks again…I do not know what to tell her.

"Well, since my training was cut short, I'm not entirely sure. I was told the weapons part of your armory was quite the sight though." Khione said, noting the tightening around his eyes. Arching a pale brow, she turned to face forward as she walked next to him. "Checking on our horses first might be a good idea, however. Ares and Cass get a bit antsy when they don't see a familiar face. Are you sure the nightmares are really nothing? I've found that tends to be quite the opposite."

Evander dipped his head in a nod. "Stables, then armory." He replied. He didn't look at her as he walked, hands at his sides. "Then let me rephrase: they aren't your business." He said. "I do not mean to be rude, but you do not need to know anything about them. You shouldn't even have known about them in the first place."

Khione hummed thoughtfully, eyeing him out of the corner of her eye. Instead of letting her arms hang, she lifted them to pull her hair out of the high ponytail it had been in. She ran her fingers through the oddly colored locks, shaking them out as she spoke. "Right. And is there a specific reason I shouldn't have known about them, or is that none of my business either?" She asked, tying her hair back up and crossing her arms. The movements drew attention to the tattoos on her arm, the scythe having been visible while she was re-tying her hair.

"You aren't from my court. The strengths and weaknesses of me isn't any of your business, as I am not your king, and there is always a chance you would use such information against me." Evander replied, not looking at her as he walked, hands clasped behind his back.
