"I don't really have many ideas, to be honest," he grunted, checking the rearviews once again.

“Okay, then it’s Gregory’s turn.” Gregory turned to Lorreth.
“Truth or dare?” He asked simply.
“Truth. Dares always end up with me having to let you win in a duel or something,” she replied, grinning.
“Have you already asked Baylee to sleep with you?” Asked Gregory. Lorreth nodded.
“Of course. Twice, actually. He turned me down both times, but I’ll crack him eventually.” Gregory had a somewhat surprisinged expression on his face.
“You move fast.”

Baylee stopped at a red light and rubbing his nose. What the hell am I supposed to say to that?

Lorreth smirked, enjoying making Baylee feel uncomfortable.

"I probably have enough money for a couple nights at a motel. We can stay there until we figure out where to go now." The light turned green and he kicked the car back into gear, driving under the speed limit for once.

“Okay cool, because right now we don’t have a place to stay,” Lorreth responded, sounding relieved.

"Y'all speak like you've never lived on Earth." He looked at them through the mirror.

“That’s because we’re from the -“ Cliff cut off as Lorreth gave him an angry look.
“Never mind,” he finished nervously.
“We…are not from around here. That’s all you need to know.” Lorreth’s glare makes you not want to ask any questions.

He shrugged, then drove for a few more minutes to a shitty little motel called the 'Salty Salamander.'
"Worst name ever, man," he said, parking the car close to the reception area.

“What’s a salamander?” asks Cliff, tentatively.

"It's like a lizard, but slippery." He cut the car off and opened his door, groaning slightly. "Ow, ow. Ow."

“What’s wrong?” Lorreth asked the question more out of politeness than actual concern, but hid it well.

"Eh," he grunted, standing up with another "Ow."
"I used up too much energy. The magic takes a lot outta me."

“Oh. That sucks. Hope you recover.” Lorreth said that somewhat awkwardly. Cliff got out of the car and slipped his hand into Lorreth’s.

He limped his way over to the main entrance, waiting by the door for the group.
"C'mon, we're just wasting time, and I'm tired as all hell."

group

Lorreth, Gregory, and Cliff followed behind, Cliff bouncing along like the child he was.

Baylee contemplated holding the door open, but he really didn't feel like it, so he just walked in and began conversating with the receptionist for 2 rooms.

Lorreth walked in behind Baylee, Gregory and Cliff following hand-in-hand. Lorreth took out a dagger and began examining the blade boredly.

He reluctantly forked over a credit card, then turned around. "We got two rooms. Each one had too beds, so who's bunking with who?"

“Cliff, you stay with Gregory, I’m with Baylee,” Lorreth immediately responded, with a tone that didn’t invite argument.

I should've chosen, he thought to himself as he tossed them a key-card. "Don't stay up too late," he joked weakly.

Gregory walked off with Cliff, obviously relieved that Lorreth hadn’t decided to stay with him, and grinned at Baylee, whispering to him as he passed.
“Good luck with her. And please don’t make her mad, she’s the worst when she’s passive aggressive.” Lorreth smirked at Baylee once Gregory and Cliff had disappeared.

He rolled his eyes, then studied the keycard. "Room 8B," he read aloud. "Second floor."

Lorreth nodded, and sauntered calmly toward the elevator, a grin plastered onto her face.

A bleak look was on Baylee's as he followed her, stepping inside of the elevator and pressing the '2' button.

Lorreth leaned against the wall of the elevator, grinning widely in contrast to Baylee’s glum look.

The elevator's doors closed, and after a few moments they were on the second floor standing in front of room 8B. He looked down at the keycard and took a deep breath, unlocking the door and pushing it open.

Lorreth immediately jumped on a bed, stretching out her arms and legs with her face pressed into a pillow, like a starfish.

Baylee sat down on the other one with a grunt, a hand going to his side.

“I haven’t slept in a bed this comfortable in weeks,” said Lorreth, her voice slightly muffled by the pillows.
