“Oh, that makes sense. Yes, that makes perfect sense.” Armais said, a smile tugging at her lips.

Ezra returned the smile and continued walking. The forest starting to thin out, and soon they were on a street, and the city was now easier to see. "We're almost there, we're just a few streets away."

“Cool, I hope someone can help send us home.”

"Yeah, I really wanna get back to my sister."

Ezra gave them a half-smile. "We'll find a way," he reassured.

“I hope so. Not that there’s anything good for me on earth, I’d rather stay here.” Aramis admitted

"What do you mean?" Ezra asked, looking at Aramis out of the corner of his eye.

“Well, my mother is dead, leaving just me and my dad. He’s as over protective as anything and won’t let me do my own thing. No parties, no drinking, nothing. Of course I don’t listen, hence why my hair is blue and I have a tattoo….” She sighed, “I’d rather be somewhere where I can be myself.”

"Just be lucky you still have a dad," Nikki whispered.

“You… you don’t have any parents, do you?” Aramis asked, quietly.

"They died when I was still young. Rebecca and I got thrown into foster care. She's still in it, but I still live with her and our past family. I'm really all she has, and she's really all I have."

“I’m so sorry to hear that.”

"So I really want to get back."

“I understand.”

Oleta looked at the ground. All this talk about parents reminded her of her own AND her brother.

Ezra stayed silent. He didn't have parents, either. Unless you count Sahira, who had raised him. But she didn't treat him like her son, more like a student she needed to teach the ways of the world to. He wasn't gonna lie, it was comforting that the humans knew what it was like to live without one or both parents.
