A sad day it was when he was elected.

@yeetus

Yep
Like, he lowered the average American IQ

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

And heightened drama in the White House.

@yeetus

but it would’ve been all good if Hillary would’ve been elected? I think not #killary

Honestly both were bad choices. They needed someone who was a decent person and a good leader, like Carrie Fisher.

agreed although Trump deserves credit where due

unfortunately, civil political discussion in this country has broken down

And I'm 'I hate politics and don't base on parties, but the decency of the canidiates.'

yeah, the systems are collapsing, and as of now, its been turned into an us/vs/them situation.

This is why George Washington told us to not have parties in his farewell address. I consider myself independent. I base my vote not on the decency of the candidates- at least not too much (because if they're an absolutely horrible human being, that's obviously not good)- but the quality of their policies, not along partisan lines. However, people who act like a bad president is the end of the world are kind of wrong because there are many elected officials who affect our daily lives a lot more than a single person in the executive branch. Yes, I know he's obnoxious and a bad reflection on our nation (and might I add, his manner of election- only winning because of the electoral college system- proves yet another thing that didn't stand the test of time from when the constitution was written to now), but at the end of the day, the people making state and local policies are really important to our everyday life, and people, especially young people, do not vote for these a lot because they're "less important."
And also, idgaf how terrible Trump is. Do NOT attack his voters unless you have a reason besides the fact they voted for him. A lot of people saw a potential for good change in some aspects, but many of them are beyond disappointed, too. And many of them could not, in good conscience, vote for Hillary. I mean, you could say the same thing from both directions. Don't attack people who voted for her either.
Ughhh it's all so sad. Sorry for going off on a tangent. It just really hits me hard. (Side note: if you're old enough, PLEASE vote in the midterms this year!! I don't care who for, just let your voice be heard.)

i’m voting November 6. That’s the midterm voting day

it breaks my heart to see the divisions in this country and then find that there are people (young people that) who simply don’t care and just want to follow the crowd. That’s not the way to go because that’s exactly what Socialists and Communists have done in the past destroying their countries in the process

socialism and communism or both evil

I 100% stand by your last paragraph, Bec. People on the internet seem to always use 'X-Canidate Supporter' as an insult, and it's soooooo annoying. I know some people who voted for Trump not because they liked him, but because their beliefs prevented them for voting for Hillary bc of her stance on their religion and abortion.

@Becfromthedead group

Yup, I just registered to vote last week. (I actually registered over a month ago, but they never sent my card in the mail, and I'm angry about it. I had to register again.)
And yes. Not voting isn't really a political statement. It's just not using your rights (and not performing a civic duty) and not giving input for what you think the country should be doing. Plus then complaining about the people in power after intentionally not voting is annoying.

we need at this moment leader ship like Ronald Reagan in this country. He was one of a kind

And I hate how politics divide us. I mean, just cause you voted for Canidate Y and they voted for Canidate X doesn't mean you can't remain friends. Sheesh. People are so stupid nowadays, they flip out about everything. Case in point: grown-ass men complaining about a kriffing KID'S SHOW on Disney for not being 'Star Wars enough'…..

@Becfromthedead group

Oh yeah, kind of a side thing, but I'm totally considering minoring in political science, mostly to educate myself about the processes so I can be a more informed citizen. It's really exciting.

I wish a lot of people in my school could see this! I HATE it when people are jerks just because I support candidate X. I wish people didn’t fight so much about politics (although some debate is good and healthy, it’s not okay when people are verbally and physically attacking others for their opinion)

There was a kid at my old school WHO WAS IN 7TH GRADE and was like this Uber-Trump supporter who harassed people for pointing out anything wrong with Trump. Like once a teacher made an offhand comment about how political parties were dividing us as a country and he flipped out and yelled at her, and she was like one of the best teachers ever. Although he was also a dumpster fire of a person who was a prick to me in particular for being gasp female and smarter in 8th grade than he'll ever be. So I went out of my way to antagonize him to shut him up with my sarcasm and general non-stupidity and he nicknamed me 'Sassy'. Anyway he's a prick and a bad person, but not because he likes Trump. Just because he's a bad person.

i’m hoping this can be one of the few places where Americans come together as Americans and do what we do best… be ourselves

disagreement turns into healthy political debate and we all come away from this learning something about the opposing side.………… or at least that’s what I think it should be ………
