Salutes back

@lemondad

Gonna lowkey stalk this even though I don't think I have it??

Idk if this is relevant, but does anyone else have that tiny whisper in the back of your head that tells you to do the dumbest stuff? Like I'll be downstairs and it'll be like "You should touch the heater. Nice and warm." and I'm like "No, Brain, it'll be hot." and then it's like "But WaRm!!"

This is called maladaptive thoughts and its a symptom of severe anxiety.
I have this. It can evolve into maladaptive daydreaming and eventually a full blown disorder.

Edit: This isn't considered a harmful mental disorder until you start acting on the thoughts. Most people with incredibly high IQs have this. It's seen as a way of making the world more complex and interesting so the brain doesn't get bored. (Says my therapist)

eek that happens to me
not only is it small stuff like that, but it's also big stuff too. stuff that's really self-distructive
but theres another side of my head that's like arguing with it
it's just kinda screwed up ig

@lemondad

this entire subject is making me question if I also have it cuz I actually thought this was normal for everyone??

Same here

spearmint how do we tell if I have it???i am confusion please send help

hello system here
do you ever like black out? like you're doing something, then you feel really tired, and next thing you know, you're in a different place? like you were doing yardwork but now you're in the living room?

no but sometimes i feel like i'm disconnected from my body and see things in different places
almost like a vision
i remember a really vivid one ahh this is low-key random but i saw a hamburger that was really oddly shaped and then the next day we went to my friends birthday party/cookout and i saw the SAME EXACT HAMBURGER and was super freaked out

you might have something that i can't remember the name of but dodie has it so look at her channel there's the name there

okay
it's

SO

weird
but also like a superpower at the same time

It's called disassociative identity disorder. I have some symptoms of it, it's really strange

I think it's something else cuz like DID?? that's our job. it's a thing where like you feel like you're dreaming?? like we have it it's weird as fuck, but it could be a symptom of DID we didn't have

cool! let us know if you have questions/concerns with DID; we get it

@starry

mostly its cool to see other people with this experience, you dont find a whole lot of folks who relate. just so everyone knows- its me, cae, fronting unless i say otherwise. im the host and mostly the others let me live my life. these days they (mostly miriam- i'm putting some of them in my 'characters' just to keep them straight) keep me safe and healthy when i'm having a breakdown or something.

thanks! also cae is the coolest name ever im lowkey jealous

@starry

ahh thank you! it's not a name i go by anymore, but it's the nickname for an old name, caelus. i have the tendency to switch names a few times a year, just whenever the old one stops feeling right. now, i go by micah, but it's short for micaiah so i brought back cae as a nickname.

I can't remember if I had any trauma…

@starry

if you have DID, it's likely you did have some kind of trauma but it's okay if you don't remember any. i'd rather not remember mine, but we can't exactly control our brains.

person_off

That's the thing, I remember some trauma, but that's when I started to get older.

@starry

like, as time goes on, you've remembered more?

person_off
Deleted user

Nope, I don't remember if I had any trauma other then almost drowning when I was like 4… I got more trauma when I got older.

@starry

oh! oh goodness, i'm very sorry about that.
generally, DID is caused by trauma very early in life. (for example, mine was worst when i was about 4.)
so i'm not really sure about your case, i can't claim to know much about dissociative disorders, but regardless you and your experiences are valid.

It's fine, I only really remember it in my dreams or when I go near the ocean. I just don't know if I have any alters because I've never really interacted with them… I don't know any of their names and all I know is that one of them uses "Bro" and "Bruh" a bunch.

i'm okay currently but am dying because it feels like there's a screwdriver slowly drilling through my head and a voice keeps screaming
not even decipherable words
just gibberish

You'll probably be fine.
Take deep breath and try to rest your eyes, keep your breathing steady.

we had our first split almost ten years ago, when ZJ was three, and then we didn't split again until last summer, and we've had two more big splits since then. it's been a rough 18 months.
