Audition Advice???
group
I'm going out for Jack's Mom in Into The Woods so hopefully no one else will be going out specifically for that part like I am….I'm still nervous though since auditions are fairly soon but I don't have a song yet….any suggestions for a mezzo-alto girl?

Oof, that's my voice range, I think… any idea what kind of genre you want to sing for the audition? It's been years since I've officially done singing, but I might know a few if I sit and think about it.

I'm not sure what genre, but probably not ballad? It has to be a non-Disney Broadway show.

Okay, I'd have to think about it a bit (in other words, research some because I'm not great with musicals, but I know a good audition song when I hear one), but I might be able to suggest a couple later.

Thank you!
Thank you!
What is your range specifically? Like, which notes?
group
So I started looking at stuff, and I found a playlist that's just a bunch of alto-range musical numbers. I started listening, and so far they seem to be good in that they show off a good amount of range and feel meaningful. Maybe there's something here you like?
Nice

Thanks! I'll have to check it out!

Am I allowed to butt in? Cause I have an audition in a couple weeks for a semi-professional troup and I like the show they're doing. It's my first real audition and would be my first 'big-league' show so I'm really nervous but…..yeah. I'm a mezzo-soprano. I already have a couple go-to songs including one I'm really comfortable with and I've been told by their people it really suits my voice. I don't know if I should stick with that one or take a risk?
group
It depends……I'd use the comfortable one so if you freeze up you're still likely to remember it.
group
Yes, besides, 1. the comfortable one sounds like it's good for you and your voice range/type 2. The people you're auditioning for probably haven't heard you sing this song before, now have they?
group
So I'm thinking of….
Sonya Alone from Great Comet
for now
but I'm not sure
