Were you or were you not just denying that you were being appreciated.
If someone takes the time to appreciate you, they clearly mean it or else they wouldn't say something, so there's really no need to deny the appreciation.
However, I'm also not going to try and force some rule that you have to listen to every positive comment thrown your way without voicing any doubt
Just do what you want, say what you want, as long as it's relevant to the chat, and even then if things get off-topic I don't really care much
