Okay I have a debate topic.
Okay so there's this really short musical called 21 Chump street by Lin Manuel Miranda (go listen to it rn or watch it on youtube if you haven't yet). It's basically based on the true story of this senior kid and this cop undercover in a highschool, posing as a student. She is there to find out who is buying and selling drugs. The kid (called Justin in the musical) instantly has a crush on her, continuously asking what he can do to get her to go out with him. Justin is very smart, on the honor roll, and set to get a bunch of scholarships at college. Then, the undercover officer asks him if he smokes weed, he says no, but if that's what she needed, he would get some for her. He gets some for her and she pays him back for it at the school, despite him telling her not to. He is also eighteen at the time. He and a bunch of other students are arrested for selling drugs as an adult, and his chances of going to college are shot. He later tells the narrator that he would not have sold the drugs or even bought the drugs for anyone else "it was because it was her". At first, I was angry at the cop because the kid would basically have no future, all because she asked him for drugs.
So my question is: is it the police officer's fault Justin's future is ruined because she asked him for the drugs or is it Justin's fault because he could have said no?
