Does anyone know how to write a play?

For my creative writing class we are suppose to write a play but I keep drawing a blank. I know plenty of plays and musicals but I have absolutely no idea what to do writing one of my own. could anyone help?

Well, think of a story, and then just simplify it a lot and script it I guess

I had to write one scene of a play for my creative writing class. I just looked over my story ideas and chose one that would adapt to play form well. It wasn't that great, but it was a lot of fun
