Okay so I have a creative writing assignment in English where I have to write a prolouge to “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe. The reason I’m coming here is because the prompts she gave us is totally unreliable and not specific! I need help! Please!

It’s just stuff like trying to link it to why the speaker did what he did to Fortunado. But she’s letting us go outside of that and I need other stuff to work with, if that makes sense.

Nonononono I don’t want an explaination of the prompt, I want another one I can work with. It has to be based around the Cask of Amontillado because we’re mainly writing out a prologue for it.

Yes I did. The one where the guy lures the other man down into the cellar, needing "assistance" with some beer thing, then he ends up walling the other guy up in the back of the cellar. that story right?
Yep pretty much. We have to write out what the tricked guy did to deserve that. And the prompt she gave us was trash so I want/need another.

No, the speaker, Montillado (osmehtin like that) was himiluated by Fortunado (his victim) and he wanted to get revenge. I basically have to make up why M is mad at F which brings him to lock him up in a wall.
Ah okay. I wasn't tooooo far off heh. Well… What if Fort (im abbreviating cause i remember the pain of writing out those names) stole Montis girl or something?
Yeah but that’s like the basic thing that people are doing
Maybe a childhood rivalry. Maybe Monti held a grudge all these years and finally decided to take it out on him. Maybe it could be some pitiful thing that meant a lot to him, and he decided to take his revenge on fort.
Maybe he embarrassed/humiliated him publicly.
Maybe he spread rumors and crap about him
Maybe i was fort and he walled me up because how many times i use the word "maybe"
