Alright, I am in a similar situation here… All my current characters are actually just Mary Sues I made a few years back that I'm trying to fix, and one of them, Emiko, is my best friend's self-insert, and our base for her personality was "She ships everything". So back then we decided her OTP should be something dumb and decided on Akira and Rikuto, my two rival characters with basically nothing in common. Fast forward to today, and… I actually really ship them. It's supposed to be the "Joke ship" so I can't make it happen, but I also can't NOT make it happen. What am I supposed to do??? They're really cute together help me

I thought about that, but they never knew each other as children so that doesn't fully work, and with Emiko constantly teasing them and joking about it it's very unlikely that they'll ever actually fall in love and if they did they'd probably hide it as best as possible until it fades just to avoid Emiko. I might just have to make AUs for my own OCs.
