i need a little help with my plot

i really want to kill off my protagonists love interests but i don't know if i should. Any suggestions will help!

Depends, why are you killing them off? For the sake of drama? Tragedy? Is the character completely useless to the story?

Also be aware of the genre you are writing for. If it is for a picture book for children – what the actual heck no. If it is for teens or adults – consult the list i guess.

Another thing is

Did the Love interest have enough time to develop as a character before death?
Did the protag recognize their feelings before or after death?
