I really disliked Rogue One. I feel like they tried to stuff in a trilogy's worth of cast in one movie, so everyone was underdeveloped. I've generally disliked how Star Wars stories treat character development. They don't reference or delve into characters' childhoods. Jyn Erso has a legitimately interesting life before the story, and I have no idea what happened in that time. The same goes for Rey. We don't know much of anything about her life before the last Star Wars.
Does anyone else have that thing where there's a book-to-movie adaptation and in general it's okay (or not) but there's those two or three elements that they just nailed and you're like 'gosh, too bad the rest of the movie sucks.'
