I know this is more of a writing site… but I figured I'd ask y'all too…

So like, I found these little bugs, which aren't mites, in my hedgehog's food and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations/knowledge/anything…

They're small, like the size of a half an ant, and dark brown. They were feasting own my hedgehog’s food. They were kind of oval shaped. I live in the USA if that narrows it down…

So you know. Life problems. Thanks for listening ̿̿’̿’\̵͇̿̿=(•̪●)=/̵͇̿̿/’̿̿ ̿ ̿ ̿

What is it like taking care of them?

It can be a bit tiresome when you clean their cages out (like today) but they are so sweet! They have the cutest eyes and it’s really fun to hold them, they’re actually quite soft surprisingly.

Is there any special needs though?

I mean, they need ~4 square ft cage and a wheel and they do need to be kept at a temperature above 65ºF so they don’t hibernate. The only time I really think one of them was difficult was when my gal was pregnant (the babies are ADORABLE)

Awwwwwww, do you still have them?

No, we sold them off to new homes. It was sad to see them go, but I’m happy that they have new families now :)

Great, now I want one now. Is it reccomended to get one or two?

I think one would be best, so you’d only need one cage. I got mine from this website called hoobly.com which is like Craigslist but it’s easier to find hedgehogs on it lol.

Lol, are hedgehogs hostile to each other? Just asking.

Kinda. It depends how you raise them (in some ways). So, two females could probably share a cage if they were raised together, but males… not so much. They can get territorial. Females and males can’t share a cage cause… you know… could happen. Even when we put my Oliver and Shaymin together in a cage, they charged and hissed at each other (normal when you put male and female together though) (They don’t charge people btw, and they normally only hiss when you wake them up and they don’t see who it is lol)
