I've never watched RWBY, but the animation just looks so bad that I don't even want to watch it… A lot of people say the show's good too, so it's kind of sad that's what's deterring me.

Well, 3-D animation is a very hard thing to do.
Land of the Lusterious pulls it off though but it is relatively new

I just watched a trailor, and yeah, it looks good, but something about 3D animation feels wrong. I can't really explain it? Like it was good enough here that I would probably still watch the show and be okay with it, but I think it's mostly a personal preference thing.

Perhaps it simply conflicts with your ideas as to what anime should be.
