Honestly? I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as you accepted the compliment with grace, you are honoring Aphrodite.

The fact that she was written as a scornful, jealous Goddess by ancient men is incredibly disappointing. A Goddess of grace, beauty, love, etc. wouldn't truly harbor feelings of ill intent like that.
