Probably yes to the first one, though if you're asking for legal reasons, it might not be. It's certainly a threat of battery.
As for the second one, maybe. Depending on where you live, corporal punishment may not be illegal, though there are parameters for that. Based on what you said in your other post about your situation, that kind of beating is abuse, but you would need to be able to prove the wording to an authority figure, unfortunately. Again, depending on where you live.

Surviving is a good thing. I managed to get out of a situation with some similarities. Not quite the same, but the abuse was there and stuff.
