Hello everyone, Winter here. I do not usually post stuff of the personal variety to these discussion boards, but as this thing has been going around I need a place to vent. Certain aspects of what I am about to say have been left out for the sake of maintaining my online privacy.

So there's this person I'm dating who is really sweet and I just love them to death. They are pansexual and have gender dysphoria. For those of you who do not know what gender dysphoria is, it is a condition in which a person does not feel comfortable about their gender. In other words, Its what trans people get before they decide to transition. I am very supportive of them and only wish for their best, and that includes them wanting to be the opposite gender. However, their parents do not approve. They are in a Christian family (as am I), and ended up having to come out to their parents a few months ago, not only about their sexuality and gender dilemma but also about the fact that they are an atheist. I believe in God, but as I mentioned before, I try my best to be there for them and do not want to bring up religion, nor do I wish to insult their beliefs. I'm bisexual, and my parents accepted me for that. On the other side of the spectrum, however, their parents were not nearly as gracious. They weren't completely pissed off about them being pansexual, but the fact that they wanted to transition to another gender was something they were very against. They even threatened to kick them out of the house if they were ever caught wearing the other gender's clothes. They were sent to a therapist because they explained that they had really bad anxiety. The therapist was Christian but claimed they wouldn't interject their beliefs. The therapist then went on to imply that their sexuality was a choice and the whole trans thing to be a phase.

Rant over!

find your s/o somewhere to stay. disphoria that has to stay ignored can and will fuck them up, i'm in that situation right now myself. they might get to suicidal thoughts if they don't manage to alleviate that disphoria soon. what i'm saying is, try to get them out of that situation asap. if ur parents are ok with it, take them in so that they can transition without repercussions.

Yeah, or find a way to get them somewhere safe if you can't take them in.

@ravens
