Pet Peeves

Just a place to complain about your pet peeves.

I have a lot of them, but the one thing that really gets on my nerves is when I'm just chilling in a meme compilation and suddenly there's a forced political thing. And I'm not talking about a funny political meme, I mean something like this article, which literally forces twenty bazillion comments about how stupid Donald Trump is in between each meme. (I don't know much about Trump so I can't say I agree or disagree with what it says, all I know is I went there for memes and got political garbage.) And let's not forget the time I was watching a video of dumb Yahoo answers things and one person was trying to keep her 14-year-old daughter away from her friends because she didn't want her to learn about "The Thing", which then spawned a comment on the video saying "These Conservative, Christian parents not teaching their kids about the birds and the bees, like LOL how stupid can you get? (laughing emoji)" which honestly made me want to respond to everyone hating on her with "Guys she's right, It's entirely a Conservative, Christian issue because everyone else just murders all their children". I didn't do that because I know better, but those things really just tick me off… (I don't have an opinion on politics, making it even more annoying because I can't even find humor in these things)

(sorry for any grammar errors)

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people tell me to calm down
Or when people don’t communicate and problems occurs that could have been avoided if they had communicated
When people punish people for talking about their feelings
CHEWING WITH YOUR MOUTH OPEN AND MAKING MOUTH SOUNDS WHILE IM TRYING TO EAT (every now and then as an accident is one thing bUT IF YOU DO IT FREUQUENTLY, LEARN TO EAT SMH)
Or when someone is like 2 years older than me and thinks that’s equivalent to 20 and treats me like a stupid child. Like, I probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but you probably didn’t two years ago either wtf
When people wont participate because they thinks it will make them look stupid, but it doesnt, the sitting down is making you look stupid.

So yeah. Lol. I have a lot.

When people are like "Why are you depressed, your life isn't bad!"
People who use political standpoints as insults ("You Trump-supporter!"/"Ugh, you're so liberal", you know stuff like that)
People who think asexuality isn't valid. Round them up and I will fight them.

Let's see…

  • people who take pieces of someone's identity (religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political alignment) and use them as insults
  • people acting like they're "woke" or whatever about an issue and making a couple of valid points or complaints, but they're mixed in with bs, so it doesn't even matter (for example, my mom seeing a really stupid commercial for an anti-depressant, making a comment that they went about it wrong, but then saying a bunch of stupid stuff after the fact, kind of nullifying her point and making me feel bad for being mildly depressed…)
  • people making offhanded jokes/comments that are meant to be playful and not hurtful, but you're anxious and can barely interact with people, so you freak out
  • people who invalidate any sexual orientations by calling them "made-up" can fight me. Same with people who refuse to use the right pronouns.
  • people worming their way into conversations or friend groups and being extremely loud, rude, or intrusive about it (I had a really bad situation like this back in the fall… just no…)
  • people who argue for the sake of arguing, and have to have the last word no matter what.
  • people who use their age as a reason for why they're right and you aren't
  • anti-vaxxers
  • people who make jokes about hating their SO, being tied down by them, or otherwise being a burden
(Hmmm I wonder why at least half of these apply to my mother…)

I 100% agree. Definitively. Also people who don't want to be up front with you when they talk shit.

  • People who walk really slow (alternatively, people who drive really slow but stay in the fast lane).
  • Me: *constantly gets interrrupted and talked over* People: How come you never talk/you should talk more (Like, I would if you let me)
  • People who use social media to push an agenda (I have one girl who I went to high school with who now works for a political party, and you'd better believe that is all she posts about. I have 2 more people who almost exclusively post articles about racism/sexism/etc. Not that people shouldn't post about those things but does it have to be literally the only thing you post about?)
  • People (mostly on tumblr) who are just never satisfied with anything and have to find everything problematic. Like this sort of thing. Someone: We need more LGBT rep! *Love Simon comes out* That same someone: It's not diverse enough because the protagonist is white!!! (first of all, did we watch the same movie? Secondly, can't we just like, enjoy things?)
  • People who use "autistic" and "cancer" as insults. That's not funny, and it never will be.

YES I AGREE!!!!

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

I agree with all of these, but ESPECIALLY the "using religion, politics, gender, etc as insults" and "using cancer/autism as insults" thing. Like seriously?

Mmm also when people who are better at something than you, and have been doing it for longer, laugh when you don’t do as well, as just straight up do bad. Like, I’m literally trying and teaching myself this shit get off my case smh you sucked once get off your high horse.

I see that a lot in the artist community and it just pisses me off, but things like "Bad OC cringe compilations" and "DeviantArt cringe compilations" are the WORST. it's just like "Let's take a character some child created for fun and tell everyone that it's as bad as literal CANCER! That DEFINITELY won't hurt the child who created it in any way or form!" Or "Hey guys! Look at these children's drawings I found on DeviantArt! The people who created them are obviously young and still learning, so instead of helping them improve let's tell the entire world that they're talentless pieces of (poop) that will never be great and might as well just give up! I see no problems with this!"

…It just hurts my heart to think about it

Yeah! The good people are the people who are good at a thing that see you struggling and go, "Hey, we've all been there!"

Yes I agree!
And also when you train hard and surpass someone who had been 'better' and then they get mad at you?? Like guys I'm just trying to do my best?
Like when my team took 6th and a special award at Globals and got to go onstage, on the way to the stage my friend stopped to basically say 'hey I'm sorry you guys didn't place' (and nicely, not sarcastically) and that he was sure they did a great job and they wouldn't even high five him because they were all bitter that we beat their placing of 7th from a year before.

Many of my pet peeves have been written down already, but I’ll add one more thing.

“Men cannot be sexually assaulted.” Like, God, reading things like that makes me want to go on a rampage. It makes me so furious! I’m also not trying to start a war (of course), but a while back I was reading about people wanting a show to be shut down for their sexual assaults on their male guests (it came to light because one of the hosts pulled down the pants of a male guest) and in the comments section, someone had written (not word-to-word), “It’s all for fun and jokes. No need to create such a scene over it.” It infuriated me. If it was a woman, the internet would have been on fire. Why do people think men cannot be sexually assaulted? Why is it okay to touch men without their permission, but it’s a sin when it’s a woman? Whatever your gender is, being touched without your permission, especially with ill intentions, should not be okay.
