So I sleepwalked for the first time last night and my mom was telling me about it It's weird to think about and I just want to know more about it and why it happened and how I can make it not happen anymore

Paraphrased from the NHS (UK) website:
- Sleepwalking is very rarely a sign of something serious. Get medical attention if it's happening very often, you may be at risk of injury, or if it runs your family alongside a related disorder
Some reasons for why people may sleepwalk:
- Not getting enough sleep
- Stress and anxiety
- Infection with a fever
- Certain types of medication, such as some sedatives
- Being startled by a sudden noise or touch, causing abrupt waking from deep sleep
- Waking up suddenly from deep sleep because you need to go to the toilet
Treatments for sleepwalking:
There's no specific treatment for sleepwalking, but it generally helps to try to get enough sleep and have a regular and relaxing routine before bedtime.
- Try to go to bed at a similar time each night
- Make sure your bedroom is dark and quiet when you go to sleep
- Limit drinks before bedtime, particularly those containing caffeine, and go to the toilet before going to sleep
- Find ways to relax before going to bed, such as having a warm bath, reading or deep breathing
Medication is not usually used to treat sleepwalking.
In summary: It's likely not a problem since it's happened just this once. Bear in mind your sleep hygiene
sleep hygiene
Sleep hygiene is stuff you can do to improve your quality of sleep. Things like not using screens/electronics before bed, not napping a lot during the day, avoiding stimulants (ie. caffeine) before bed, keeping your bed as a place to sleep and nothing else. Other stuff like that. Not really 100% sure how it ties into sleepwalking, but that's what it is.
