By far the best piece of victorian slang is the word "dally" that could either be used as an adjective to describe someone who is slow or can be used as a noun to describe someone in a romantic/sexual relationship i.e. "You have to stop dallying around with celebrities" or "You wouldn't have to worry about an accident from a dalliance"

They probably assumed it would always be that way. That it would be taught in school and the mythical creatures would still walk among us.
