Oh, and also, I really like to play with my hair when I'm stressed cuz it helps and I'll breathe into my hands a lot. I also have to move my hands cONsTaNtlY, no idea why. But it's a thing.
group
I have a really nice weighted blanket, idk where it's from though.
group
I have one big one for my bed, and a small one from Target that isn't super great, but I use it for long car rides.
Yeah, weighted blankets are great.
Q&A #2:
Stupidest thing anyone has ever said to you when they found out you were autistic/just generally about autism?
group
Just in general the dumbass guys in my grade who go "ugh that's so autistic" all the time. Brett, I get better grades than you have ever had and ever will get, shut your damn mouth.
Okay, can I just beat the shit out of them? That's cruel, and honestly, we're not idiots. I'm smarter than most people in my grade, even if social cues are difficult and I have difficulty speaking some days. Just saying. But I feel that.
group
Exactly!
Just because I'm not great socially and at certain things (mathematics are very hard for me) doesn't mean I'm stupid.
group
Question based off of something I heard:
Is it difficult for you to learn a foreign language?
(I was discussing classes with my ex-boss/a friend of my mom and she said that I shouldn't have been required to take a foreign language class just because a lot of times it's difficult for autistic people to grasp everything about the English language, let alone another one on top of that at the same time.)
No, not really. The grammatical rules may take a while to grasp, but I've been doing well on French and I passed my Spanish class in fifth grade with flying colours even though I remember nothing.
group
See, I love learning about the gramatics of Spanish, but I'm really bad at reading, writing, speaking, and understanding it, mainly because I tend to forget important words that aren't taught as vocab (a, an, the, etc.)
True, I understand that. Honestly, language has always been a strong point for me because it's a "special interest" but I'm shit at math and history and social studies, but I also do well in literature so… Idk.
group
I'm good at the English language, lit., history, and some sciences, but not at math, phys. ed, and physics.
So, when did you find out you were autistic?
group
When I was 11 I think. You?
Just this year actually. I've done lots of research since and it's really helped me find myself.
group
Noice!
Um… hi. Does Asperger’s syndrome count…?
Of course! That's where I am, actually, so no problem having another Aspie around!
Q&A #I lost count at two because numbers are mean
Favorite pizza toppings, if you like pizza even. No judging. What, did you think these questions would all revolve around being on the spectrum? FOOLS! I'm probably gonna mostly ask random stuff to break the ice but otherwise this is just the autism safe space where we can chat about whatever the hell we want.
My favorite pizza is called Big Ben and it has eggs and bacon on it… my family thinks that my dad and I are really weird since we like that
So, um, I’ve heard that people with apergers often has a higher iq than other people, do you know if that’s true? Cause it’s true for me but I don’t know if that has anything to do with the aspergers…
Ok I just realised that sounded very boastful
No, don't worry. And honestly, that's false. While our brains do analyse things in a way that is beyond the norm for neurotypical (individuals not on the spectrum, further, not suffering from mental health conditions) people, we are not necessarily more intelligent, perhaps simply more analytical than the rest. I dunno, I haven't really researched that much.
group
I haven't gotten my IQ test back so idk yet
I've never bothered with an IQ test. Don't need one to know I'm able to count beyond two, do I?
Also, I found a cool article that if any of you have the time, you should read.
Here it is: https://theaspergian.com/2019/05/04/its-a-spectrum-doesnt-mean-what-you-think/
That was… such a great article. I actually kinda cried a bit while reading it because it feels like the author describes exactly what I’ve been trying to make my friends understand about it but failed to do
I’m not a huge fan of pizza but I like cheese, pepperoni, and pineapple (not too much though) and bacon (same as pineapple.) usually just the first two though.
Also I don’t really like to take IQ tests either. I know my limits, and I know how to do certain things. And that’s good for me.

Well, maybe you could show it to those friends, and they'll get it more? Idk. But I'm glad it helped.

Same, but I don't like pineapple. Ever. It just… I don't like it. Sorry.
