Fluent in English, somewhat ok with German, just my pronunciation is a bit off.

I advise that you start by learning Hiragana. It makes everything so much easier to learn and helps with pronunciation. Tinycards is a good website to learn the characters by flashcards, but make sure you practice writing them too. https://www.satorireader.com/ is a good site to learn words.
