Good Morning Y'all! It's Alex. We were watching inside out last night. The DVD player got killed. But has anyone else noticed that Inside Out is a movie based on having DID!? I just did, I mean it is kind of. So yay I guess, we have a movie based on our life problems guys!

….it's not though? Like really at all? It's just emotions. And we see into multiple other people's heads and they all work the same way. It's not DID.

How exactly is it harmful when you're not saying that it's not TOTALLY about DID my guy :/

  1. Misinformation. Again. Saying "this thing is sort of about this other thing" can, will, and does lead to people self-diagnosing themselves with an already poorly and under-represented thing that's super stigmatized
  2. It's just. Objectively not at all about DID? I don't even know a whole lot about it and it's obviously not DID. But like. Lmk if that's where we're losing connection because I'd be glad to elaborate

Sure, you can maybe use little pieces of it to sort of explain DID, but you can do that with anything, and it's not based on DID. And you can't really say "it's like how each of the emotions have their own personalities" because DID isn't having problems controlling your emotions, and yes alters do have their own personalities, but you can't compare them to emotions, they're their own beings. Not "disgust" or "joy"
