It's because a lot of trans people (specifically enbies) relate to their music
It started off with the song Body, which a lot of people thought really explained dysphoria
However, the enbies ended up claiming it because we were like "huh, what's a band that most enbies like? Trans masc dudes have Cavetown…" Then we went "Gasp! Mother mother!"
It combines the "Fuck you" attitude that a lot of enbies have when they're told that their gender doesn't exist and the dysphoria explanations that they can show to cis people.
ALSO THEIR MUSIC SLAPS!!
Aight makes sense. I'm happy we have Mother Mother, cuz I don't like Cavetown lol.

It happened to be Lemon Boy, which weridly enough, it fits a couple of my favorite ships
I like Lemon Boy, never heard any of the other songs tho
