I made a mistake in my last calculations so here we go again:

So on average there are 35,000 bees in one (1) hive.

A bee can lift about 70% of their body weight

A singular bee weighs 0.00025 of a pound.

So that means a singular bee can lift 0.000175 of a pound.

0.000175 x 35,000 = 6.125 lbs.

A single hive of bees can only lift 6.125 pounds.

A plane is 900,000 pounds.

It would take 146,939 hives to lift a plane

Or 5,142,857,143 bees.

And that doesn't include the people and luggage in the plane.

So I looked at the plane and guesstimated that it was about 900,000 pounds that could carry about 575 passengers.

The average weight of an American is about 180 lbs.

180 x 575 = 103,500 lbs

And the average person takes two suitcases that weigh the average 40 lbs.

575 x 80 = 46,000 lbs

That's an additional 149,500 lbs to the 900,000 that the plane is.

So 1,049,500 lbs.

1,049,500 / 6.125 = 171347

171,347 hives of bees

5,997,142,858 individual bees

That's a lot of bees, but only 4.13% of the total bees in the U.S. at the time, so out of every 25 bees, one was lifting that plane
