Who's Leakira?

After season 7 came out some fans made an AU called "Voltron: Defenders of Tomorrow" where Klance is canon. It takes place in this futuristic city and there's an eighties soundtrack and it's pretty cool. Leakira is basically the AU's version of Klance. "Leandro" is Lance, "Akira" is Keith, and there's a lot of other characters with their names changed. Their appearances are also different and overall it's pretty great

I like the idea of leakira but some fans have just taken VLD characters, and then added different reces and sexualities, and prclaimed it way better. I feel kinda like maybe these are the reinvented characters only personality traits?? Kinda disrespectful tbh. (but if you want to ship it, thats cool dude. I wont judge)

honestly i never liked lotor but it would have been nice to see him get some kind of character development. (also his hair was just way too fabulous>)

yeah his hair is just the best thing! It ment he was avillan for real sadly

Well the entire point of it is that it's an Alternate Universe (AU), and that it is the characters just in a different world. AU's are essentially just someone else's characters in a different setting, world, or circumstance. Leandro and Akira are literally just Lance and Keith with different appearances and a different setting/home. It's the same for all of the characters in the AU. They all have the same cultures, races, and sexualities as in the show, but they have different (and more culturally appropriate) names and their appearances are altered (like Leandro having curly hair and an undercut and Akira's hair sometimes being white/worn in a ponytail). The entire concept of it is completely harmless and pretty great; the only bad part about it is the toxic part of the VLD fandom using it to target people. There are a lot of people that have deemed Voltron: Defenders of Tomorrow better than Voltron: Legendary Defender and there's literally nothing wrong with that because it's just people's personal opinions. There's really nothing disrespectful about it.
