Okay, so, basically my story is a murder-fantasy mystery set in London 1843. Because of this, I would like to use the chief of police that was active at the time. Now, I have done some research and I am getting conflicting results. On one hand the web is saying it is Frederick George Abberline but then the page says he was born in that year?? And then other websites are saying Sir Robert Peel and even though he founded the metropolitan police about 12+ years earlier, it doesn't say if he was actually the chief of police. If anyone knows or can just reassure me I'm kinda on the right track that would be lovely :)

I know that Abberline was involved in the infamous "Jack the Ripper" cases in 1888, so it might be Peel for 1843. Mind you that I myself am not 100% sure on this; let me see what I can dig up and I'll get back with you.

Is there anyone that I can use as a cross-reference?

I'd highly recommend watching the Policing in London series by Extra Credits, primarily the Lies episode at the end because the writer shows off the books and such that he used for his research. That might help answer your question.

Aight, thank you, where could I find that?
