How to title a piece of writing?

Some questions to answer for yourself:

How big of a piece is this? Is this title going to have to fit with other titles, such as chapters or parts of a trilogy? Or is it completely a stand-alone thing? Perhaps an excerpt from a bigger work?

Do I want a title that tells the reader what they're getting, or something more metaphorical that might draw them in? Should the title be attached to what's happening in the chapter, or more abstract?

Do I want the title to be punchy, or funny, or serious?
