Is an eclipse overly dramatic?

Here is my oddly specific fictional sky problem.

My story is set on a moon, so solar eclipses are much more common and longer than on a planet (you know… like lunar eclipses.) I've thought of including one - maybe during the climax or the long dark night of the soul - but would that be too cliched/dramatic?

I wouldn't find it to be too cliched as long as each eclipse has a meaning. Maybe make it part of their culture or something that way it has a certain importance.

Like CRWNED said, if it has meaning/purpose in the plot or culture, then I wouldn't find it to be a problem. If it's just for dramatic effect, it might be a bit much. Oh! Here's an easy way to get around it: if the eclipses happen on a regular schedule, e.g. every _____ number of weeks/months/years, then you could use it to help signify how much or little time has passed since the beginning of the story, and also have that extra dramatic flair. I think if you did it like that, and/or it related to the plot/had a purpose, it wouldn't be overly dramatic at all :)
