Let's make a dictionary for non-writers because why not.

So as the title says, I want to make a dictionary for all the non-writers to be able to understand our common terms and short hand.

I'll start with the most basic.

Protag. Main character of a story.

Angst- Torture we put our characters through for fun.

MC: Main character
POV: Point of Veiw

Trope: Cliche in writing.

A wizard did it: Unexplained thing that magically happened without a good reason.

Plot armor: A character doesn't receive realistic harm because the plot demands he/she survives.

Everyman: A main character whose personality is either not present or not very strong in order to create a character that all can identify with.

Anti-Hero: Someone whose intentions are viewed on as evil, but they mean it in a good way, or for a good reason (example: Deadpool).
Mary Sue/Gary Stue: Someone who is wholly perfect in every way, they love themselves, love their thin body/prime body, have weird magical skills that make them seem OP. Though they usually are bullied for these differences.
OP: Over Powered.

Smol bean: Small and innocent.
Tol bean: Tall and innocent.

Strong Female Character: A character that is well rounded and in all other ways beautiful and happens to be female.

"Strong Female Character": A Mary Sue character with no personality who does nothing but kick ass and probably look sexy. Some have an annoying habit of spouting stupid feminist lines at timed intervals.

Fluff: Cute stuff between two (or more) characters. Usually romantic.

@dvisalln

(i feel like "a wizard did it" is a thing that happens quite often in my stories since they mostly involve magic.)

(You can pm me to talk about it if you want some advice.)

Too dumb to live/TDTL- an idiotic character that pointlessly puts themselves in harm's way (mostly for the love interest save them)
Example Miku from that one kagerou days PV from project diva
Image result for miku kagerou days

Wangst- pointless whining (mostly from a mary sue)

Bastard (Girl)Boyfriend(trope) A waste of oxygen that keeps love interest like shite but ends with them anyway, at best they're jerks, at worst they're abusers

MC- Main character (mostly ends up being the most tortured by Writer-sama)

Cinnamon Roll- Innocent character that needs to protected

Sinnamon Roll- Cinnamon Roll but not

Charries- Characters (Basic Writer-sama's Slaves)

Writer-sama(Made by yours truly)- A writer or a god in their story, a portmanteau of "Writer" and "Kamisama(god),"

Oh thanks for reviving this.

You're welcome :)

OTP: One True Pairing, a really great couple

To ship, shipping: When you think that two characters would make a great couple, either both from the same story or crossover-shipping with two characters from different stories

Shipname: A name for a ship (not the boat kind) made by combining the names of the people involved (example: Will Solace + Nico DiAngelo = Solangelo, or Percy + Annabeth = Percabeth)

(Idk if those are more of fandom terms but whatever)
(Also I am really surprised over how many of my non-writer friends that have no idea what these mean)
