What types of vibes does my story give you? What are your thoughts on it?

Desolation is my upcoming book series I plan to write alongside my current project, Nothing. Although they have nothing to do with each other (pun not intended) and aren’t even remotely close to being in the same universe.

”At daytime, this land behaves normally. At nighttime, watch out.”

Desolation takes place from the point of view of a (presumed) detective or soldier of some sorts. We don’t really learn too much about his history in the book besides why he was sent here.

The MC was sent here to investigate. Rather, he was supposed to do that with a group of people, but after getting knocked out during a storm, he wakes back up on a beach. No one is found, at first. (Eventually he finds out what happened to everyone else, but they definitely had it worse than him. We find out their fates in this book, too.)

A good beginning portion of the story is the MC exploring the island, and seeing creatures he’s never seen before. Some even look like hybrids of real animals (which isn’t possible..right?) He arrived at what appears to be a city, but everything is silent. Soon day begins to leave and his first night arrives on this island. Don’t expect to see anything for his first night. He takes shelter and it takes him a little bit to fall asleep.
Soon, the MC wakes back up, and continues to explore.

Desolation’s main storyline is that it’s an island..and something happened here. We don’t exactly know what, but what we do know is that it isn’t good. There’ll be bunkers, secret labs, interaction with the environment (both friendly and not so friendly) and several storylines feeding into one big story altogether.

I only thought of this concept in a dream, but I wrote the details down and here I am. Ask me any questions you have, trust me; they’ll help me develop the story!

What kind of environmental factors will they face?

Well, you have the animals. Most of the animals here aren’t scared of humans, but they won’t go up to the MC outright, unless they’re very hungry. Of course, there’s other creatures that aren’t wary at all, and will stalk the MC through several chapters.

You also have the weather patterns. Typically, it’s very sunny here, but also has lots of rain, with a storm every so often. The soil is fertile, providing for lots of plant growth. This can make movement for the character in some areas tricky,and some places might just be completely blocked off. A lot of the plants aren’t safe for human consumption.

And what kind of animals are there?

The animals first seen in the book are reptile like, later identified as dinosaurs, or dinosaur like species. There’s a lot of herbivores, but plenty of carnivores to balance out everything. The ‘dinosaurs’ are not made to be accurate, but they won’t be shooting fire or anything like that.
Theres also normal animals, but as there’s actually a little bit of radiation found on this island, the animals might act or look differently (though not too different.) It’s assumed that the animals have lived here for so long that the radiation doesn’t have the same effect on them it would to an animal that isn’t exposed to radiation at all. That, or the radiation has died down a bit.

We’ve also got hybrids of normal animals. Most hybrids aren’t too weird looking, some of them aren’t too noticeable either.

Then there’s the completely alien looking creatures that are found usually at night or in dark places, such as cave systems. There’s also a few of them found in the bunker. I’m making a basic concept for them, but I have an outline that most of these creatures typically do not like the light, or are hurt by it.

This is like Annihilation but better. I would so read this, so much damn talent.

A bit funny you’d say that, considering I was inspired by Annihilation (though I’m making sure that I’m not copying it when writing)
