_{(Just a small warning: I am sorry if these prompts sound like anything you previously came up with or saw somewhere. If there are any similarities, then that is purely coincidence. I am simply taking these ideas out of my head as I sit here at my computer. Any comparing points with anyone else’s stories is sincerely serendipity or coincidence, I promise.)}

Hello folks and fellas! I have a bunch of unused prompts that I came up with randomly, and I haven’t used them, so I figured I’d share! If you end up writing a short story to them, then please let me see! I would love to see where these end up, if anywhere at all. Whether that’s a link to an rp you used them at, or a lil document on notebook, I’d love to read them. I’ve also tagged them with certain suggested genres, but feel free to alter them however you’d like.

• (Mystery / Any genre)
  They say people go missing in avalanches because of the hurling tons of snow. While, in some cases that may be true, in many, it is not. Perhaps your body is what goes missing, but if I’m correct, no one had ever been existentially judged by their physical appearance. You see, your frame might have been lost, but we found you. Your soul. Yourself. Just like we found all the others. Welcome to the cabin on the mountain, my friend. Now… it is your turn to search.

• (Any genre)
  I’ve always been afraid of the door by the stairs. Not under it, but to the side, as if that’s where the stairs lead in the first place. I don’t understand why it’s there— but I’ve been living here for years, and every time I open it, it’s just a wall. But… why do I keep hearing voices behind it? I didn’t get it… until I found its key

• (Dialogue prompt)
  A: Go ahead! Call every single person in my phone and they’ll all say I’m innocent!
  B: … The only person you have in your contacts is… John’s Pizza Palace?
  A: Uh, you see, Mark— the manager— knows me pretty well. Maybe he’ll have my back? I mean, I see him every Friday for my weekly pizza, so maybe…
  B: You are the literal saddest criminal I’ve ever met.

• (Romance / Comedy)
  I work at a mall as a night security guard. My job was so easy, until you showed up and started playing “My Heart Will Go On” on the public piano and now I despise you because I can’t get the damn song out of my head. Come back and play another so I don’t have to keep thinking about how the door was big enough for both of them.

• (Mystery / Comedy / Romance)
  After being released from house arrest, ex-fugitive devotes to living a simple life. But when Detective asks him/her for a hand with new mysterious crimes, their life spirals back into chaos. Who better to catch a fugitive than a fugitive?

• (Sci-fi / Comedy / Any genre)
  A bandit, a chief starship engineer, and a wanderer walk into a bar. Except the bar is on fire, they were the ones who started it by complete accidents, and an odd string of events pieces the three together to right their wrong, or… make it even more wrong. Whichever comes first.

• (Romance / Any genre)
  I saw you sitting on the back of your truck, and I walked by and asked you if you were waiting for your boy/girlfriend, because you’re just so cute I figured you’d have one. You said yes, but then said I could wait with you. The night went on and the person never showed. When I brought that up, you threw your arms around me and said “yes she/he did.”

• It was all fun and games having a wizard friend until you possessed my dog to ask me for groceries and accidentally awakened my favorite book, which tries to bite my fingers every time I want to read it. Thanks.

• Every morning, person A sits at the same table, in the same place, at the same coffee shop, ordering the same thing. They spend the whole morning writing whatever comes to mind— whether it’s a fantasy backstory of a random customer or a thought about what will happen next in a stranger’s life. It’s all innocent, until A overhear’s a recent subject speaking with a friend and talking about events that happened the day prior… which align perfectly with what was written down.

• When a prince, looking for someone to wed, becomes increasingly impatient with every single basic prince/princess brought his way, he comes up with a series of trials and “games” for everyone in line… making him the medieval equivalent of “The Bachelor.”

• I broke into your house to rob you of your electronic devices, and I didn’t expect you to still be awake at 4 in the morning eating noodles on the couch and crying. What the hell happened?

• I’m the “world’s greatest hero” but I forgot the code to diffuse the bomb on a sticky note back at home and had to call my mom to remind me.

(Romance/Platonic friendship / Comedy / Any genre)

• Who knew my ideal night would be sitting on a couch with you, three dogs, and two jugs of ice cream, watching a hispanic soap drama with the subtitles off and making up our own storyline.

(Comedy / Any genre)

• I was about to kill you and asked if you had any last words. You told me you’ve always regretted never doing the Cha Cha Slide, and I thought that was pathetic, so now we’re on a journey to complete your bucket list before I kill you for good.

(Comedy / Any genre)

• Death shows up, knocking at an old woman’s door. Except the old woman is extremely stubborn and won’t let Death take her, saying she’ll pass when she’s ready. Turns out she’s not gonna be ready for a long time, and Death has to stick around for a good long while, getting increasingly fed up with the old woman’s shenanigans… but also maybe learning how to live a little.

(Romance/Platonic friendship / Any genre)

• World famous piano player, A, tours with their friend, B, across the world. After the night of the first show, while they were packing up, A accidentally drops the top of the piano lid on their left hand, fracturing the bones in the fingers. Now, with A’s left hand out of the picture, B takes it upon themselves to learn the bass line of all of A’s songs. After all, the show must go on.

(Dystopian / … Sad, but idk if that’s a genre man)

• People say that when the sun explodes, the entire universe will be wiped from existence in that exact moment. But no, it’s actually a slow process. A slow process where it grows hotter and hotter every hour, and people start saying their goodbyes, and you can see it growing larger and larger in the sky like a mushroom cloud, but it doesn’t stop. It’s been three days.

(Mystery / Any genre)

• They say Deja Vu is you seeing glimpses of alternate timelines, in that certain moment when they all line up. You know this for a fact. After all, you’ve passed through the boundaries before.

(Comedy / Romance or platonic / Modern)

• Character A, a well-known sarcastic comedian, meets Character B, an inspirational public speaker. Tasked together to start an influential non-profit class to teach young children about the joys and wonders of the stage, both characters find their morals crisscross in patterns neither can get behind. Chaos absolutely ensues, and with a whole array of students behind either of them, it’s probably labeled one of the most competitive school years in the books. _{(i really wanna write this one someone hmu ;-;)}

(Romance / Fantasy(?) / Any genre)

• In order to escape an awful arranged marriage, Character A tries to convince the royal court that they are already engaged to another person. Except the thing is they’re really not already engaged, and end up picking up some random person (Character B) that’s in it for the money. However, over time, A realizes they made a wonderful choice, and B slowly begins to realize… maybe the money isn’t all there is to it. Or maybe it is. This is your prompt, after all. Do whatever.

• People don’t choose weapons— weapons choose people. But what happens when you’re chosen by a little wooden axe, the size of your palm. Sure, people laugh, tease, make fun of you for your stupid small weapon… but what happens when you realize that this weapon is none other than Stonesplitter: Breaker of the Fourth Wall.

Okay here we are again my friends, I have another few prompts for you:

(Fantasy / Romance(?) / Any Genre / Dialogue Prompt)

• A: ogling at some cool magic things
  B: “We live in a world with dragons and sorcerers, yet you still take the time to fondly acknowledge every lowly form of magic?”
  A: “That’s like saying ‘we live in a world with tigers and lions, yet we still take the time to stop and pet a common house cat.’ Of course I fondly acknowledge every lowly form of magic. Learn to appreciate, B.”

(Comedy(?) / Any Genre)

• Person A gives Person B an amulet. Thinking it’s just a common necklace, Person B wears it everywhere all the time. Suddenly, a few people approach Person B when they’re alone, and ask about this necklace. Thinking nothing of it, Person B explains that it was a gift from a special friend. These people immediately see Person B as the “chosen one,” and kill them before B can even begin to gain any kinds of power. Person A, finding the bloodstained amulet the next day, sighs and says, “Damn. Shoulda prefaced that with the chosen one shit. Well. Onto the next one. Person C, get over here, I have a gift for ya. It’s a necklace…”

(Mystery / Any Genre)

• You’re on trial for a severe crime you didn’t commit. The trial is at a lull, the courtroom relatively quiet as a witness gets situated on the stand.
  And suddenly, there’s a gunshot.
  Your prosecutor keels over, clutching their chest as a pool of blood spills from under them. You see everyone in the courtroom look around for the source of the shot, as others rush to the prosecutor’s aid. Oddly enough, all of their eyes settle on you… and the smoking gun you now hold in your hand.
  You didn’t do this, but look how many witnesses there are. Look at the fuzzy gaze of the defense— you’re lying to yourself if you think they can help you now. Look at the dying prosecutor, and look at that smoking gun in your hand. You even had a motive, for goodness sake. Decisive evidence is all there.
  But you didn’t do this. Someone else is set on you getting a death penalty.
